DO YOU THINK its worth me up grading to a n8 from my samsung i 8910 hd " in regards to the os> and camera> and the speed differance thanks for any help

Yes. Having had the N8 I can definately say the camera is wonderful as is the HD video. Also,although it's not perfect Symbian 3 is a vast improvement in how quick it is & how fluid the OS is. But I still myself do not like Symbian.

i heard there was a few problems with the n8 has there been any software upgrades that have sorted things out

No problems with it at all Nokia is about to release a major firmware update which will make the N8 even faster and better |

There are some units with issues, the one I had rebooted frequently, some units have even died, Nokia are aware of the issue though and will replace your N8 if you have these issues. I would certainly recommend it to anyone coming from any S60v5 device be it the N97, Satio, or i8910HD, it is a good upgrade from those.
