Sony Ericsson is to bring a total of 9 flagship phones to the US for 2011. Source: Androidcommunity
I thought having a flagship meant one killer phone as the hero phone for the whole range. If true, this is quite an aggressive strategy they have for the US and a big roll of the dice for them.

I doubt that the Play can run PS2 games but since the PS suite is open for Tegra devices, I think they will benefit more which is a slap in the face for if you ask me. Maybe later devices will be able to play PS2 games but nothing in the current portfolio. |

like i've been saying since day one, the limitations of play's hardware will be hit very very soon but nobody likes to listen to little 'ol me |

Admittedly, the XPlay is niche, however mobile gaming will evolve and it is destined to evolve further than what it has so far.

How big screen do you guys think it is on the new ST15i/Smulton/X10 mini 2? And when do you think it will be launched? |

AFAIK, the Mini screen is not wide, this is why it looks like this... and AFAIK it is 3in and 320x480 ( yes more than the original Mini's ) this what makes it better coz the original minis were really small and a lot faced problem handling the touch on that small screen... and needed a lot of time do their customizations on that not to mention some apps won't run on that small res.
What I know is
- 3" screen
- 320x480 screen resolution
- 1.5 aspect ratio ( 2:3 )
- these info is for current early prototypes ( don't ask me I didn't see it, just like you only in pics ).. so these might change later... or may not
of course some other things are must to expect like multi-touch, gingerbread ( if not newer as the new mini's will be launched later ), Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and mostly 5MP camera with LED.. and maybe ANT+ too as is pushing it's support for this tech...
I don't know any thing about any plan to move for new tech's like USB 3.0, Bluetooth 3.0 or some NFC capabilities... any way, for USB you can be assured that most major makers won't move to USB 3.0 now for several reasons including cost, no need for it, no mobile chipset currently support it either the chipset is old or just announced...
BT3.0 and NFC may have better chances but like what I said I don't know any plan to support them in the near term...
BT3.0 basiclly does not bring any thing new ( except some lower power consumption in same speed ) unless if talking about Bluetooth 3.0 +HS which is much much better, the later will use regular BT to start and negotiation, and if data transfer is there then it will use the WiFi chipset to transfer the data making it much much faster... but of course both pairs have to support it and there is some other aspects too ( not just new BT chip )... BT4.0 is better duo to the fact it has BT3.0 + low-energy profile which is perfect for applications like watch's and maybe LiveView too.. so no need to cry about not having BT 3.0

Thanks for the good info! I for some reason thought that the mini 2 should have a bigger screen than the mini pro 2, maybe 3,2 inch. At least I think this would be a great screen size for the mini 2 Together with a slim profile (10-12 mm). |

@Xajel: lol that BT anyway, yep, that new Mini screen resolution was expected as wide and it was always weird for me while looking at pics.

If the screen is 3" doesn't that make it an upgrade of the X8?
Did sell more X8s than Mini/Mini Pro? I would like them to keep the 2.5" screen but bump the res up to 320x480 or even 640x480. A flatter/thinner Mini Pro would be perfect

It depends. The Mini range had better features than the X8, e.g the camera for a start.
Still no word on whether the new Mini range is actually to be called Xperia Duo / Duo Pro.
