If you're smart you'd wait a few weeks for the prices to come down. Others get theirs subsidised through their carrier or wait for the unwanted upgrades to appear on eBay.
see this is the problem with the community here. keep dodging the problems and make excuses for . oh its not bad, why dont you do this, why dont you do that, go get something else, etc
why make excuses for , why are you so afraid to say can do any wrong? |

What are you talking about? You're the one making out everyone is going to rush out and pay Play.com prices for their new phone when in reality few people do or ever have done.
In the UK and many other countries people obtain their phones as part of an upgrade on their contract and never pay that much. If play.com / expansys want to charge that price and people want to pay it then that's up to them, it's their money, they can do what they want with it.
But don't assume just because expansys are charging that much that everyone is going to run out an pay it because I certainly won't and not many people I know will do either, and that goes for most higher-end phone purchases.
EDIT: The Xperia Play has been picked up by all the major networks in the UK so there should be some good pricing competition between them, which is good for us, the consumer.

I really can't get where you want to go, and I'd like to remind you that the galaxy S is still in android 2.1 like the X10, plus compared to the one presented to MWC the release version isn't that solid, plus my sister's phone who work at sfr (the french vodafone) lags more than my "creepy" X10. And if you are really going to buy the xperia play then you are the dumber around here, whine but still you'll buy a crap SE. You are smarter than a smartphone.
you want to play it like that? go learn some English then come back to me ok?
Dont care about what you are talking about but that stuff aint cool man. Dont ridicule someones English if it aint their first language. How many languages are YOU talking/writing? Not cool, stuff like that makes me angry.. |

aaaannnnd once again everyone is too quick to defend and make excuses. no other manufacturer is charging such a high price for their sim-free versions at similar retail outlets.

@zub what's your problem dude? a few weeks ago you were saying Play is the phone you've waited for for years and now you don't want to pay for it? Play is a unique device. No other handset on the market has dedicated controls. That's what you're paying for. I think Play will be a big hit and I really don't think £500 is too much to pay for a device that I would use for all my mobile computing, communication AND gaming. I think it's absolutely reasonable for the first and only of it's kind in the market to charge a premium for it. Hell I think £600 wouldn't be too far of a stretch and I don't even like the handset.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |
