From ZDNet today, SE Head of Marketing for Asia-Pacific:
The company's head of marketing for the Asia-Pacific region, Tim Barnes, said sales of the Xperia X10 have exceeded the company's expectations. And again, he's a fan of Android's openness.
"One of the great things about Android is that it is an open platform and that it enables device manufacturers to put their look and feel on the phone," he said. "I think we'll see a continuing focus as well from SE moving forward on the Android platform".

Good news. One of the best phones from SE in ages (although not without some bugs). I hope this means that they will support the device with a solid program of software updates well into 2011.
I can't wait to see what they will announce to succeed it.

Just a little comparison.
Samsung has sold 1million+ units of the Wave and Galaxy S (thats 1 million of each)
Wonder how many have actually sold???

I did read somewhere recently that x10 sales were not as good as hoped as everyone was buying the Desire. I have no idea if true.
Phone?? What phone?? |

The Desire will steal some of the thunder of the X10 no doubt. It runs Android 2.1 and features multi-touch. SE have said even with an Android 2.1 update the X10 still won't feature multi-touc.
That doesn't really take away from the X10, which is an excellent phone. The X10 UI also differentiates the phone from other Androids and this will remain appealing to many buyers.

I hope SE release the X10's succesor as soon as possible after its announcement. Next year the competition will be a lot tougher, with Samsung dominating the hardware components ( SAMOLED screen, internal memory, etc.). Since SE do not seem to compete neck-to-neck with other manufacturers, releasing their high-end phones sooner will give them a slight advantage. |

NOO I don't want X10 successor so soon. May be next year. The reason is, if they come out with X10 successor so soon it will definitely run 2.2 Froyo and that will be a disaster for X10 users. The next model should have 3.0 gingerbread as it needs hardware upgrade also.
If SE does not give 2.2 Froyo to X10 users am going to be very disappointed cause the phone capability is simply amazing X10 itself is an excellent phone and it deserves 2.2 Froyo

Yeah I read that
But I was saying I don't want to see that anywhere before Froyo comes to X10

Hats off to HTC for the runaway hit they've created with the Desire. A Tremendous success. Sold out in the UK in most places.
Now SE seem to be back on form they need to hit us with a thousand pound super phone. Lord knows what the specs will be but people will pay for such a thing.

Have to admit I am a big fan of the Desire, lovely device but I also love my X10. Now the battery life has been drastically improved it is now something you can use daily, without the need to charge it up or watch your usage due to the battery.
i have just got a htc wildfire as well, and although it is a little slower than the X10, there are features I like about them both.
I do hope SE get 2.1 out very soon, as the X10 is lacking in areas the wildfire has over the X10 mainly due to the 2.1 O/S.
Once the X10 has 2.1 it will be allot better and 2.2 will make it even better. I hope SE just go for 2.2 instead of giving us 2.1 then along wait for 2.2.
