As a privately held duo entity = NEVER. When they become publicly traded then those exec will have to FIGHT tooth & nail for their jobs EVERY quarter THEN we'll see promises delivered and serious hardware.

Arc is STILL beautiful. Got a snow storm here in Toronto and would LOVE to take snow pictures that rival my fog features from my W810i from 4yrs ago!!

@buntoo..appreciate your offer of help. I found something interesting this morning..allow me to tell you how it came about. This is for every galaxy S owner who cant flash. Last. Night i used a pc with Xp Installed. Connected my phone. It found it, for the first time..i was happy. Went to firmware upgrade and got the message 'this device cannot be updated'. Downloaded the registery hacker mod from xda and tried spoofing my phone to xeu to see if i could fool kies. I was using an older version. No go
After much research i found that if you have bought a galaxy S from cpw that cpw have their own build. I know this because when i typed *#272*hhmm# {btw..the hhmm bit is where you type the hour and.minutes} it gave me a list of codes including Xeu firmware type and cpw was highlighted with a green light next to it. An actual registery hack confirmed this also. So now i can either flash via odin or take it bolton rebok stadium cpw where they are official samsung flashers. Just wanted to give people a heads up even tho i know im the only one left on the planet running eclair. Lol.

@jj03, i've already come across with these issues 2 months ago.

Actually changing the sales code by *#272*HHMM# (in eclair) or by *#272*IMEI# (in froyo) doesn't change the actual product code which is stored in nv_data.bin in system root folder "efs". So if the sales code & the actual product code are not same then Kies gives this msg "cannot be updated".
You must keep a backup of your original efs folder just in case before changing or modifying anything. You can also change the product code as well as the sales code. That need a copy of nv_data.bin and then a Hex editor to change the code and overwrite the modified nv_data.bin back in efs folder.

By the way why don't you update to official stock firmware XXJPY (Froyo.2.2.1). That is awesome. [addsig]

Reflash a stock rom with Odin, that will get things back. Very very hard to brick a Galaxy S, been in similar situation myself, was crapping myself that I'd messed up my phone, but got back to stock no problem. When you're back to stock, to flash darkys rom (v9 now), make sure your phones rooted, and any lag fixes you have applied are disabled. You can flash darkys rom straight from your internal sd using cwm recovery. The latest rom will decide if you need a wipe install or no wipe. Very easy, and have to say, v9 is very fast, stable and improved battery life again. Similar to v8, but bugs ironed out. Let me know if you need any help, will do my best to help.

Just re-reading your post here, when you got to the darkys rom screen, your phone can stay there for upto 10mins as things configure. Worth a mention if you fancy a go at darkys rom in the future.

Think i will get a SGS too this week. Now i have a Satio, and i switch to SGS because of android and 720p VR. Does the SGS worth it? Meaning is it cool? does it take good pictures? I have seen videos, they are nice, but only few pictures. Is this a good choice for an upgrade? Thanks.
