Turning the heat on to Google, HTC Corp. today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona launched its new smart phone that is strikingly similar to Google's Nexus One launched last month.
Desire, as named by HTC, comes with Android 2.1, a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, a five megapixel camera, FM radio and an optical joystick. The smart piece from HTC also possesses new improved HTC Sense user interface to allow higher social networking capabilities to the user.
Apart from the Desire, HTC also launched two more models; Android 2.1-based HTC Legend and HD Mini run on Windows Mobile 6.5, to enrich its existing portfolio. The company, one of the major smartphone makers in the world today, also revealed its plans to launch Windows 7-based models later this year.

"Windows Phone 7 Series is a significant milestone for Microsoft, the industry and ultimately people looking to do more on their phones," HTC's CEO Peter Chou said in a statement.

All three models will be available to users in the European and the Asian markets from March. However, there is no statement from the company about its plans to sell the models in the US.

No interest in this one eh?!

I like the look of it, also liking the Legend too... Interested to see what the new 2.1 version of Sense UI is like...

Hmmm, I like the desire but its just a smaller version of the HD2 i think (apart from the amoled screen) Not sure whether to go for the HD2 or wait til windows 7 is released. HTC will be among the 1st I believe to offer WinMo 7 and will be exclusive to Orange also...woop woop

You can say they are alike except for the looks.
Desire & N1 are identical specs-wise save for the optical trackpad/trackball thing, afair.
