I believe that SE will get this phone work great ... the problem is with the update for android 2.1 .... If they are still working on android 1.6 for mini and mini pro, than it probably means they will take ages to update them and x10 to 2.1.
They release x10 with 1.6 for not delaying it even more ... but it makes no sense to keep working on this outdated version of android to this new phones!

I was seriously considering selling my 3GS and buying this phone.

Til I saw the battery life (number 1 reason why I'm ditching the iphone). Is it seriously gonna have less life an iPhone?? Every time I come sooooo close to finding a phone I like, there's always one deal-breaker that ruins it for me!

well, I can assure you are not alone on that one. I was also set on mini, but got concerned about the battery life time. Will follow X10 mini reviews later on and see what they say about real life performce.

@iamstevie agreed! Seeing the battery life of the Mini made me disappointed anyhow.

About the OS, 1.6's bad unless the price is right AND it is upgradable to the latest version.

I guess I want to own the mini because of the looks and some features.. I wish the battery would have longer battery life when it comes to music playback..

Music playing doesn't consume much power, through headset that is. I do like the way they solved texting on that little screen. It's just a sexy little thing.

lol, its sad isn't it?

I'm still hung up on my G900.... it's an absolutely brilliant phone feature wise, pretty small, and to have touchscreen with keypad is just the best. But the software on it is just so flawed and unintuitive... always expected for someone to release a similar phone but it never happened.... it's 2 years old and still got more functionality than most mid-range handsets out these days!

The X10 was the closest thing I've seen to an updated G900 - granted no keypad, but great functionality, touchscreen, smartphone, and in a small device!! And the software I presume is customisable cos of the Android system, so needn't even worry about software flaws. But there's no way the battery will be acceptable by my standards, I literally cannot STAND my iphone's battery, esp as I'm away from home a lot working random hours, I need a battery that can comfortably last 2 days minimum

Baaad times

X10 mini pro has a removable battery BST-38
For me that's one more reason to choose the pro version...

BST-38 930mAh? Same batt as K850. Is it going to be enought to power a smartphone for a full day and a half under (1.5days) heavy useage i wonder?

Well thats an interesting development from originally saying it was a fixed battery. A good interesting development!

I'm guessing the battery life will still be as advertised though.... the battery is advertised about 460hrs standby/8hrs talktime for a non-smart phone... so I presume 285hrs/4hrs is about right for this? Still way short of iphone...so still not much good for me.

well, the built-in battery is not an issue for me.. the issue is the battery's talk time.. it must be somewhat 8hours for GSM mode..

I think there is something wrong about the 4h batery life on gsm mode and 3,5h on 3G... If you look to all other phones the differences between them are much more. look at vivaz for exemple... (13h on Gsm vs 5,2h on 3G)
Maybe the 4h for this phone is wrong... hope so !

But then if you look at X10 it look a bit strange too (the difference between GSM and UMTS that is).

GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 10h 415h
UMTS/HSPA 900/1700/2100 8h 425h

Perhaps something specific for Android.
