Could it be that this feature was dropped from newer releases, or would it be the other way around?

We are testing this phone in my site, too. Our tester got an older version from Sony Ericsson as far as I know. So it might be the case that SE removed this feature from newer releases which makes no sense to me.

I have updated to the latest SW version now and still no landscape when writing SMS with SE's standard app.

But on the picture which I linked it's the X10 mini (on the right; not the pro version) where it works in landscape mode.

I realize that the picture to the right does not necessary show the SMS app in landscape mode. If you for instance click on the Google Search widget and turn the mini into landcape you get exactly same picture.

@Arne Anka: That's right, it works in Google search widget. But as I mentioned before in our phone what we got for testing there's an older firmware. I forget to tell you that it actually works for us in the SMS menu too with the older firmware. So I guess SE removed this feature from newer firmwares. I wonder why.

I hope it's not the "you want QWERTY? Buy the mini pro" thing behind!

Still going?

Nope

I managed just over 6 days from the little phone in the end.

By the end of the day my battery indicator shows that the battery is nearly flat!

How do you guys manage to get so long out of the phone?
I have the push googlemail running and fancy widget updates once a day but apart from that nothing else is really running in the background.
I only spoke on the phone for a couple of minutes and used the browser a few times during the day!

I thought the Mini has a terrible battery. When I had it the battery with virtually nothing running & not much usage would suddenly drop from 70% to 3% & I never got a full day out of it. Awful battery. Also on the Mini do any of you guys have the charging problem? Mine well 2 of the replacements I had did have the same problem where it would stop charging part of the way or every so often & then start again but when unplugged it had not been charged at all & went back down. Terrible

No charging issues here either. After having the phone for just a week I can manage between 1.5-2 days on a single charge with ease. Today I did not use the phone at all for around 10h and the battery dropped around 10% (around 1% per hour). Not a stellar, but compared to other phones out there, not bad I think.

I have noticed that too. Seems Bonovox and SE are not compatible.

Look at this video:

So you can use full-fledged desktop on X10 mini and X10 mini pro.
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand...
