Not sure about rooting myself I have no idea about that. As for update build number mine is 2.1.1.A.0.6 & kernel version is 2.6.29

My build number is 2.0.2.A.0.24 but the kernel is the same.

@tranced. Go onto xda developers and download x10 flashtool. It will root, install xrecovery,busybox,JIT and also remove unwanted stock apps and clean up the phone.
Lot easy to use than any of the others. Can also use it to flash the phone to any firmware you want including custom ROMS, convert files to ftf format to flash with and combine files into one custom firmware.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose

I dont own a Android Device yet but my sis Has a Mini.i wud like to root it.
wht are the advantages of rootin and will i be able to update my phone from SE update manager?[if there is some official updates]
would like to know about app2sd. any suggestions[if its complicated wont try it as the phone is not mine]

The advantages of rooting the phone is that you have full permissions in your phone. You won't be limited to anything.

Regarding app2sd, it allows you to have applications installed in the sd card. Quite useful if running out of phone's memory.
