The n97 should have never got in the shops, not even with the current firmware, it's still no good to any1, i can't belive big companies like this have NO quality control, all they've got to do is use there phone for a week.
We moan about se's having issues but atleast i never had to reset any of my se's at least 1 once a week and restore everything manually, also se compaired to nokia were quick with firmware updates to fix major issues and the new firmware did actually fix the issues.

But if Carphone are saying they are not having many returns then it could be an Orange firmware issue? Has any other network got this phone?

This made me laugh http://discussions.nokia.ie/d[....]d.id=hardware&message.id=17331
seems the n97 mini has excatly the same boot problem as the nokia n97 32gb this means all firmwares are affected branded or not my n97 is unbraned and on V20 and has this issue, once again the issue has been reported on there own forum and completly ignored.

What faith and confidence can consumers have in a company you spend a large amount of money on their products but they can't help you when you have problems. Shocking.

It's not even that, that bothers me, n97's have had this problem every since they were released a year ago, and all nokia have managed to do is make the problem worse with the V20 firmware and then ignore it, at least when my se's had problems i was confident a firmware update to fix the issues was only a month away.
My Se C702 had loads of issues when it was brand new on it's first firmware release, all pretty much fixed and phone hugly improved in next firmware update.

Wonder where those guys whose ever-ready to blur out "smart" opinions whenever a SE phone is in a bad light? Oh I get it...the N97 mini was Nokia's.

Never been an S60 fan and am not that surprised. The thing is Nokia has had issues with S60 and their phones for a while, it takes multiple updates to sort out the probelms. The major difference is that they, at the moment, can get away with it because of their brand image/power unlike SE which has effectively killed its reputation. Soon things are going to be very difficult if Nokia carries on like this, they will find themselves in the same sad island SE find themselves.

Both SE and Nokia can thank Apple for all their troubles, that is the company that came to show how it is done in terms of software. The phone should be 95 percent ready when released and that's how the Iphone was.
It's not what you do or even how you do it but in what state of mind you do it: Dups! 2009

True indeed. Even though iphone owners have had problems they were very rare and i hardly hear of any Apple problems. LG and Samsung seem to have got it sorted too they don't seem to suffer the major problems Nokia or SE have yet their phones are selling big. They never seem to suffer from delays in releases either

Nowadays, a smart-phone less than 256mb ram isn't efficient. They made mistake with N97 and again did with the mini. I'm wonder how much it should cost more if it has 128mb ram more? This is only reason I don't consider to buy mini and X6. I've 5800xm which is exit the browser while it loads big pages and I believe this is cause by inefficient ram.

Havent had RAM problems in my 5800xm Nav. when loading large pages, even watched some videos at Phonedog and YouTube, then again the new V31 FW brought with it more RAM and better management of it. 65mb RAM at boot and up is enough for a S60v5, unless you're on a mission to deplete it, what is important is proper RAM management, ive heard of cases of Satio running outa RAM whilest viewing full YouTube because of poor mem management it just depleted it all.
EDIT:
What i mean is RAM management by the phones mem management itself, NOT by the user.
