i got my fathers Pentax optio 7 m.p and was happy about it. but the happiness stooped quite fast after I took it for a ride with the c902.
i know its no super cruel digi cam, BUT STILL it should perform better then this.
think most ordinary digi cams are worse then many high end phones when it comes to sharpness, (sure, full size there beat digi cam bigger sensor, but the rest ???? hhhmmm)

all pics is shot in auto.

I believe this review is slightly biased towards the C902. I think if you were trying to take the best picture of both cameras the digital camera would come out on top, whereas in this comparison it seems as if you've not bothered to focus the camera nor alter the EV or any settings and have just pressed down the button (While maybe moving your hand) and with the C902 you probably used a tripod... picked the best settings and lowered the EV to prevent over whitening, they do look rather dark.

But Plank knows good photography i do not think he would cheat it. If you see some of his pics for the c902 they are crisp bright colourful sharp everything. Pentax make rubbish unreliable cameras imo anyway

Here we go again...

That pentax camera can't be that bad... i'm sure your effort to accomplish a good photo with the digicam was not the same as with the C902...

Wow. Nice pics. Did you use any camdriver because my friends C902 isn't that great. My G700 takes better pic compared to it esp. when flash is fired.

the Pentax cam is about 1-2 year old....and it takes awesome flash pictures, but it (like many other ordinary digi cams) produce to dizzy photos........thumb down for this camera.

this small Sony phone-lenses (k800/k810/C902...etc.) have often very accurate Focus......have testing towards quite few digi cams and the phone often beats in sharpness.....no doubt about that.

The lens on the Pentax looks dirty for sure, there is a haze over most pictures. After 1-2 years it may need a little cleaning. I owned a C902 among other camera phones and none of them can come close to digicams, when it comes to resolving detail, noise, and depth of field the camera phones are simply no match. Nevertheless another highly entertaining thread plank. Can't wait to see the next one.

Plank is known to be biased (sorry mate), no doubt about that but you'd be surprised at how many crappy dedicated point and shoot there are out there. My W995 has outperformed a canon ixus 10mp cam at EVERY shot, didn't even have to use my best examples. Weird but true http://www.esato.com/board/vi[....]=188425&start=165#post2830923. Maybe we've raised the bar so high for cam phones that we don't realize that the gap has pretty much been bridged in most instances. I've actually been using my phones as my primary camera since 3 years ago and I don't see why not

for me.. the only thing better about regular point and shoot digicams is the optical zoom.

I agree most compacts do have crappy picture quality, probley because they've gone the same way as the phones, small sensors loads of megapixels, only real difference is sensor type still the end image is mainly a result of how good the image processor is clearley some phones have better post-processing then some compacts.
I have a Canon powershot A470 mainly because it was cheap just £50 new, no point in spending £100's on a compact that is just gonna give shit image quality.

Some shots from it are here, despite the fringing and a couple being a little over processed it's better than any phone cam i've used,

My best shot is here: http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/9274/img0407y.jpg
which came out really well.
