I have uninstalled Face recognition and google search, now lets see how it effects the speed in real life..
I still found it strange why everyone else seems to enjoy it. If this doesn't work i'm waiting for the XDA guys to release the Android 2.2 so i can get a power boost

HD videos are epic.
Sometimes battery drains faster than 1.6 but sometimes it holds longer.
I think I need to root the device and kill those battery draining apps.

Overall fantastic
I really love it.
Espeacially after that multitouch news I'm really excited.
I don't need that but it will be massive punch on those people who keep talking about how MT is necessary

Whats good to use to get the most out of your battery with a rooted X10? How is it different from Advanced task killer what else is killed?

@Toney_Ericsson
Personally I used Titanium Backup to remove face recognition, facebook app (it starts at boot and I don't use it anyway), moxier, quadrapop and wisepilot. I installed the stock gallery app and use that instead of mediascape for photos and videos and I stopped using adv task killer. My been testing it like that for today and half yesterday. As yesterday wasn't a full day I tried a full day today from 100%, this morning I spent 3 bored hours in a hospital so I was web browsing, playing games and sending emails. Sent half a dozen texts and received that same. It's 6:30pm here and I'm on 45%. That's not bad. As what somebody else here said using something like OS monitor to see what processes are abusing your CPU and then removing those processes helps a lot with the speed of the device. I've experienced about 80% less lag than before I removed face recognition and moxier, which is why I decided to go ahead and stop using ATK too.

I agree with the cpu monitoring. Once the apps that hogging the cpu is removed, the phone will be very fast, smooth and the battery will last longer. Currently my phone can last more than 24 hrs.

face recognition service belong to who ? Android or SE ?

The phone will be laggy if the cpu is running at 100%. I believe it is the same with PC.

..and face recognition is the real stinger with battery consumption and lagginess, to my feel removing this feature alone has contributed to most of the gains I've had in speed. I think it must be constantly trying to match faces and tag them in photos from the card or it has been coded in a really silly way. Either way it needs to be fixed in the next update because compared to not having it there at all the phone is really slow.

You are right about constant scanning.
It scans my facebook photos as well.
I think every single picture opened on the phone is scanned by it

The face recognition service kept restarting on my phone. Dunno what was triggering it though. I've not had any difficulties since rooting and removing it but that doesn't mean I won't at some point, fingers crossed.

i did a single click root with 1.6 to be able to use a theme.. but that one f**ked up my one so i restored it and un rooted, i guess you will have to do a REAL root to be able to remove faceR and moixer mail and other stuff?
