Yeah... we want to feel the power of 1ghz in a multitouch 16m screen too Amir in A2.0 update if you want to feel the power of our money in your pocket !

The phone is just touch not multi-touch. If you don't like it then don't buy it. 44 pages in it is getting VERY annoying having to read your complaints all the time, even several times in every page.

Will it have multi-touch in future updates?
Xperia X10 has a capacitive screen. It does not support multi-touch functionality at launch, but is considered for the future.
Will the X10 receive Android 2.0 update (for those who bought from the initial batches with Android 1.6) ?
The UX platform used for Xperia X10 will evolve to Android 2.0 over time.

Read that carefully and try to understand what  is saying here.
The X10 won't magically get a A2.0 update with UX multi-touch and all, the UX platform will evolve over time. The X10 might not, but the UX will.
Having said that, the X10 has no hardware limitations that prevents it from running A2.0 (like some older Android phones) so over time we will probably get A2.0+UX on the X10.
Also have in mind that right now hasn't promised A2.0 for the X10 nor did they promise multi-touch, as you can see they only speak about the UX platform and not the handset. |

I wonder what does multitouch offers that much?
I can get why the 65K limitation is annoying but I don't get multitouch at all.
I'm going to buy this phone whether it is going to have Android2.0 update or not. I know even if wont give us an upgrade, we'll find a way. It is like installing winamp 3.0 to P1i. Would you believe that when the phone released

All multitouch really offers is pinch to zoom and fancy gestures. Jesus effing Christ is this ridiculous, its like you guys can't be pleased with one of the strongest phones out there now bar screen color. |

If you're not used to using a multi-touch phone on a daily basis, then it means nothing to you - or you imagine it's just about pinch-to-zoom and "fancy gestures" and can live without it.
If you do use multi-touch, you'll be frustrated by the X10, and probably already discounting it. It's that big a deal.

I want some divx support there for movies without convert them to mp4... for long distance trips
And multitouch for zoom in-out photos/browsers etc ...
A big screen (already have that)
And a software that handles hardware better.... i dont care if android 1.6 limits colors... then go to 2.0...

You use the keyboard though, right? If you type at any sort of speed then you're probably using multi-touch every time. And I won't bother listing all the games and apps that would be impossible without it, I'd be here for weeks.

pinch zoom is probably not that important on such a small device as double tap to zoom is probably more useful and practical. but as boinng points out, typing on the onscreen keyboard at any real speed definitely requires the use of multi-touch. otherwise it's some very, very careful timing or slow typing.
I for one don't really mind. it's a minor issue for me and I can slow down my typing speeds.

With all due etc, multitouch on a computer is a gadget. Multitouch on a handheld touchscreen phone is a completely different experience, and a whole UI in and of itself.

If the future is over complicated bullshit like that then count me out. I can understand the complaint of the screen to an extent but come on multitouch is hardly needed. There is one reason why SE has stayed through the years and will continue to stay. The keep it simple and clean how an effing cellphone is supposed to be, gradually evolving the simple and clean into the modern simple and clean. You want your over confusing technological wizadry go to apple or Samsung or whatever and we'll be here happy with our simple and clean modern day wonders. |
