Re: Multitiuch/Dual touch etc. I did ask a question earlier in this thread to those more technically minded as to which type of screen the X10 came with, as others had suggested this would be what would dictate whether it could handle, one, two, or up to ten simultaneous inputs. I think they were something like 1000,2000 and the latest with up to 10, 3000 as a suffix!?!
Really though, from all of the videos I have seen, especially Arne's one of the games I have no problems with how the screen reacts.. Looks very useable to me.
Of more concern would be a lack of voice dialling as this is something I use a lot in the car with the excellent HCB 300.
I can't see any mention of it in the Manual posted earlier from the FCC, however the newer one from the Product Blog does refer to "Speech Synthesis", but only really in passing.

SE always does this, they release late product and contain bugs with overdue features and expensive! hope they will learn one day as their market share is keep going the hill

I sincerely hope this is just another bit of confusion between hardware/software compatibility, like the whole screen colour-resolution debacle.
If the X10 is physically unable to deliver multitouch (or at least it's second-rate cousin "dual touch") then that will inevitably disadvantage it over time, regardless of people's protestations right now. Multitouch on Android and in Android apps is really starting to open up now - it will be standard across the platform before long. Once Android app writers start assuming multitouch support from the outset (as they have long since done on the iPhone), X10 users will get a third-rate experience out of every new app. Not what they'll be expecting from a "high-end" Android device that's newer than the Nexus One.

Can't believe you guys still persist on SE kept their promise. They say they will launch Q1 and then they make it available on the very last day of Q1: 31st of March! It is in fact launched in Q2 because in reality very few users will be able to get X10 that day and for most of them it will be Q2. So it's really very cynical toward the users to announce something and it's always the very end of the announced quarter. |

^Actually, quite a few places, at least here, has had it for a few days now... So... It is in Q1 fully, just a little late in it.
Currently NExus 4, but want Xperia ZR. |

"Little late"? The official launch date is March 31, and it won't be in stores (at least in Sweden and probably for most other countries) before that.
I remind you of their announcement many months ago: "This phone will be AVAILABLE in Q1 2010". Now for this to be available to buyers in Q1 you have to launch it much earlier in Q1 and not the very last day (or couple of last days) of that quarter. Now in reality it will be available only in Q2.

Sorry Saka, I don't agree. Q1 is Q1. Last day or not.

If you are fine with something announced a half year ago launched last day or few last days of promised quarter then good for you. For me it's cynical.

Relax guys.. Saka is a bit right.. But i think now SE does keep the promises given to customers. The X10 had much work to be done over the Android OS,besides it's their first attempt in that field! And they were saying late Q1.. So the delay is kind of excused.. But Vivaz for example don't you agree that came in the market really fast? That shows that they're trying to get rid of the bad reputation they got over the past years.. |

It worries me more that they've so deliberately squeezed themselves just inside this self-imposed deadline - if they weren't ready to officially push it out more than a single day ahead of Q2, then in just how bad a shape is it? They couldn't even get a review phone to Engadget last week that wasn't running flaky "pre-production" firmware, right in the last week or two of Q1, so clearly they've taken this right down to the wire. Are they just releasing now because it's fixed and ready for market, or simply because they have to, to save face?
If they've spent the last few weeks getting it to perfection, then more power to them - but if in fact they've been struggling with problems and just couldn't hold it back any longer, that's not so great.
