This is becoming ridiculous with not releasing any phone until March...
If time to market continues to increase, I wonder what will generate money.
X10 in March
Hazel & Elm in Q2
Kurara who knows
Kanna who knows
x10 mini who knows

@Maximys,
how sure are u abt X10 getting version 2.0, when being released in March? I'm asking this, because if this is going to happen, I will definitely wait for X10. |

Snapdragon is not the only reason, why I'm willing to go for X10. I've seen some comparison-vids on engadget, and Moto's Droid doesn't look that slow next to NexusOne. And to be honest, I don't even notice that much of increased speed in Android. Looking at HTC HD2, it seems that even WinMo 6.5 is taking more advantage from 1 GHz.
But still, I would go for X10 beacause of it's gorgeous design and a camera capable of taking nice photos. |

^ This just made the current and future dual core Snapdragons useless.
Even an ARM A9 Cortex cpu with a GPU imbedded (just like snapdragon) running at 500mhz is faster. Snapdragon is "based" on A8.

IMHO Wait for a new SE Android smartphone(hopefully with no delays till summer) ... don't become testers of another sonyericsson's outdated first attempt. Otherwise go for Nexus one.
I said goodbye to this device since i heard about the x2 releasing date about a month ago..
I wouldn't touch the Nexus with a 39 & a half foot pole! There is nothing, absolutely NOTHING better in the Nexus over Rachel or X10. The bootup screen, possibly but nothing else. And I refuse to play with a 3yr old trackball technology on ANY smartphone. Been there and done that for 3mths with a BB Curve 8310/8300. Even RIM began to abondone that in 3 of their newly released smartphones (1 of which will come out for CDMA carriers).
With Ericsson owning serious patents and technologies along with ongoing contracts that Nortel Networks sold to them, SE is in a PRIME position to take advantage of Verizon's LTE development network - yes its already in testing and it'll launch (rumored) nationwide across USA late this year. No it won't be the first LTE deployment but possibly the largest initial offering, who knows. But its MAJOR chipset cheddar for Ericsson LM and this trickles down to future Android chipsets that will use for sure in the future. Well let's hope.

ARM based SoCs usually take years between unveiling and retail. This is because the OEMs have to code and compile their ROMs for each platform. Even the OMAP3 had to wait almost 2 years before a phone sporting the same was unveiled.
Tegra 1 is based on ARM11. Both Snapdragon and OMPA3 are based on Cortex A8. The only place where Tegra trumps the other 2 is in power consumption. It's better suited for PMPs such as the Zune rather than a seriously productive machine. Tegra 2 however looks impressive. We'll see it in 2012, I guess.
If the world's still around, that is. |
