But as for capacitive screens, they are rubbish! I had more typos than I can care to mention, the screen simply does what it feels like, unlike the resistive screens and Nokia have been using which are accurate and work first time every time, whoever thinks capacitive screens are the way forward has clearly never used one that's for certain.
To be fair, that sounds like a poorly implemented (cheap?) screen, with an OS that has no multitouch support (and hence a rubbish on-screen keyboard). There are a LOT of satisfied iPhone users out there who have used a capacative screen extensively and are certain they're the way forward (though not for everyone, naturally).
Android makers really need to make more use of multitouch, especially on keyboard-less phones, and it's something of a mystery why they don't.

People tend to buy things at Christmas, then tighten their belt in the new year - but to be honest that's almost incidental to this. Releasing a high-end handset before one of the biggest companies in the world releases a directly competing product, that would have helped SE sell this phone.

Have SE actually confirmed a specific release date in Q1? If they haven't then how can it be delayed.
@Boinng
Do we have a release date for the google phone or is it just an announcement?

To my best knowledge SE officially never gives any specific dates, just quarter and year. Specific dates given usually comes from second sources, which may or may not have any insight in the company (difficult to know).

The January launch date was always unlikely but it has been attributed to various "official" SE sources over the past month or so. It even appeared on the SE website at one point.

Right now we have nothing, the announcement hasn't happened yet - but the phone exists in fairly final form and has been released (complete with what appears to be retail packaging) to the likes of Engadget for in-depth review. It gained FCC approval earlier than the X10 and appears to be ready for a January release.
Either way, even a promise of this phone from Google themselves will take out some of the X10's potential sales. They should have been quicker, simple as that.

You sound like you've written off the X10 already but it's still a very highly anticipated phone. After an update to 2.0 the X10 will be on par software wise and probably above par hardware wise and I'd say that most would agree the X10 is eye candy when sat next to it.

I haven't written it off, but the existence of the Nexus One is a serious blow to the X10's chances. It was originally thought (by some) that the X10 would be the first 1GHz Snapdragon Android handset, and a clear class leader - not any more.
Like I said before, they should have dropped the X2 and gotten the X10 out a lot sooner - and if you aren't convinced that the X2 was a waste of development resource, read this - http://news.softpedia.com/new[....]ricsson-Xperia-X2-131164.shtml
After the "success" of the Satio and X2, could there be more riding on the X10 now?

Generally half of all retail sales happens at this time of year, and that was definately true of Carphone Warehouse when I used to work for them some some 8 years ago - not sure if this is still the case, but either way, the Christmas shopping period is key for retail... |

Ok, but you've heard wrong. We talked a bit more and it is an irritant ###### thing that slows down the launch. Namely, that Qualcomm can not clear the platform. It would have been ready V.40 but is not ready yet.
Are you a bit conspiratorial as one might imagine that Google had to slip in the queue. So it has nothing to do with software.
