That li'l microchip-looking thingy to the left of the fingerprint scanner is not some kind of L.E.D. either; it is called a 'Near Field Communication for Micro Payments'. Once you've scanned your fingerprint in on the panel next to it on the back to verify who you are, payments can be made using the phone with this device/feature:
