The 3G logo in the status bar would seem to confirm a GSM device, too, and the different unlock mechanism – so far HTC Android devices have used a slide-to-unlock system – suggests either tweaks to HTC Sense or Android 2.0. The “touch the Android” system here doesn’t match up with the Android 2.0 unlock bar seen in the leaked preview screenshots.

What I mean is that this is hell of a better deal than the X10.

how exactly?

the fact that it has a newer version of Android? So? Doesnt mean its going to function better as a phone!

Or the 512mb ram where as x10 has less. Even though the 384mb ram that the x10 has is plenty.

Or perhaps the Amoled screen? Meh!

Though on the other hand, we have 8mp vs 5mp, 4" screen vs 3.7" screen, 1gb vs 512mb ROM, 1500mah vs 1400mah battery.

Again, nothing makes either the better phone. We'll see once both are released which is the one that functions best!

You cant just look at specs. Remember Htc have plenty of experience with both Android and the 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU,ive got my money on the Nexus easily being the better phone at release and getting a a lot more fw love from its manufacturer.

@gucci
if you payed a little more attention to my post you would realise im not talking about specs, (assuming you are replying to my post) hence the 'we'll wait until both our released to see which functions best'. Yes i mention them, but that was exactly my point. Doesnt matter which one has the better specs

and, SE release firmware just as frequent as other manufactuers. HTC dont release one every month. O, didnt HTC make the x1. And wasnt the x1 criticised for being a lemon?? HTC had plenty of experience with WM too

I think we should all hold off our verdicts until both devices have been released. Personally, though, the only thing that I find appealing in the Nexus One (over the X10) is the Live wallpaper feature.
I'm a sucker for eye-candy.

Sweet, hadnt checked Engadget today so nice one for the link... Good to finally get to see a proper decent quality video on the handset... The universe animated wall paper looks great btw... Cant say I am a fan of the touch sensitive buttons though... But otherwise, yes please... Looks like Android is going in the right direction which has to be a good thing...

My apologies for misunderstanding you. As for HTC building the X1, well remember they built its rival the Touch Pro (Rapheal i think it was known as) and that had hardly any problems and ran just fine, i think the only people left to blame for X1's flaws is SE.
With the updates i mean HTCs get major updates eg. SenseUI being given to even the older phones like the Magic. Anyway as you said lets wait and see,but after the Dream, Magic,the oh so successful Hero and the Tattoo i think HTC have an advantage,just look at how they improved on each device,and how excellent the Hero is now after the updates,i doubt SE will get it right in the X10 even with its hardware as they seem to struggle with new platforms,thats why im saying i personaly i think the Nexus will probably be the better device at release,that may change after a bunch of fw updates for X10 though. Maybe im totaly wrong,if so thats fine,i beg SE to prove me wrong.
