Well, come to think of it, as much as I really like the flush screen and keyboard of the X2, think I'll probably end up forgoing it, given that those (plus the accelerometer) ain't exactly a really good reason for me to be getting that to replace my X1. Furthermore, I'm intending to get the X10 too, to replace my ancient K800. So well, probably will just wait for a X3, that is if SE still continues with Windows Mobile...

No I do not but have spent some quality time with it. It beats X1 hands down but when you do too many things it lags and its a real shame because they could have easily put a better processor, not saying 1Ghz but just a bit more would kick ass. My personal issue is that I will not pay so much money for +0.2 inches on the screen, 8MP camera and an accelerometer. The processor would have made it worth it. I'm sure i'll eventually get one but it have to be a bargain.

My thoughts exactly, I would have upgraded from my X1 for a 3.5"+ screen or a faster processor, and definitely for both. But I see the X2 as barely an incremental upgrade from the X1. I'm still hoping for a new Xperia with at least a 3.5" screen and faster processor with a physical keyboard. Is there any hope for SE releasing a phone like this, heck I'd even switch over to Android for a phone like that? As it is, I might be tempted by a Motorola Milestone with US 3G, although I hear the keyboard is terrible.

Just read that someone's gotten a retail (final) version of X2, and after reading his review, I'm like so tempted to get the X2 as well... And I'd just only decided to give up on it and stick to my X1 while I got the X10 as my 2nd phone...

What is with so many people complaining about .3" of screen size??!??? Is that not 7.6mm? Unless my math is incorrect that is not much screen real-estate.

Is it NOT more important for the resolution?! From 3.2 - 3.5 is NOT much of a difference but affects hardware layout greatly enough to be significant in changing the design & esthetics.

So many people wanted 4" but now with all the hardware & choice of software on the HTC HD2 most users just don't want it any longer.

Screen resolution is MUCH better than gaining .3" of screen real-estate.

It really is a matter of relative experience. My point was that going from the 3" screen of the X1 to a 3.2" screen was not sufficient reason to upgrade for me, after all, if 7.6mm is not significant then 5mm is even less so. On the other hand, going to 3.5" (an increase of 0.5", 12.7mm, over the X1) is significant and would be a reason to upgrade. I would agree with you that if the X1 was 3.2" and the X2 was 3.5" I would also say that was not reason enough to upgrade. For many, the camera of the X2 will be reason enough, for me, it is not-productivity is more important and I can be more productive with a larger screen and faster processor. In the absence of a significant (or any) increase in screen size or processor speed I can not justify the expense of upgrading. Also, I don't think there is any difference between the screen resolutions of the X1 and the X2, so how is that a selling point?

If you find enough reasons to upgrade to the X2 then that's great, and I hope you enjoy it. I'll be sitting this round out though.

Will there be a NAM version of it with AT&T 3G? It's a dream but if SE can get their flagship phones like Xperia's as subsidized phones, they might get lot of attention in US. Except the forum freaks, everyone else in US only thing Apple, Motorola, Samsung, LG, and HTC as phone makers. Common person almost forgot about SE and Nokia who once ruled the mobile space.

Ah, then I mis-read your post then. I thought the X2 was 3.5" screen, but I'm wrong.

For sitting this one out, you may have the upper hand ... I figure by mid-2010 capacitive touch will be an industry standard in ALL platforms and pen-based screen input will be refined for capacitive screens. Also you'll get to enjoy a much faster cpu-based chipset optimizing battery life and resource intensive apps like sql-based, vpn based, and remote apps; not to mention WinMo7 which I HOPE is supported by Win7's RDG and WinServer08 R2's DirectConnection/Access.

Who knows, maybe we'll have chipsets that support VMWare's proposed mobile OS virtualization ... imagine buying 1 phone with WinMo and running iPhone_OS, UbuntuMID, and Android on it in full hardware supported virtualization without flashing out the original rom.
