Satio to run playstation games |

Games dominate the App Store and they're cheap too compared to PS2/PS3/PSP games - that has been a factor in the App Store success no doubt. If can port all the big Playstation titles to SF S60 then I think that will give momentum no other iPhone competitor has had. The game prices will have to come down to App store levels though and I think SE/Symbian Foundation have a lot of work to do to get the 'fourth parties' involved - the companies who approach developers and say "Make us an iPhone app", like my local bank.
But it's a very good start IMO.

Well if we take a look at Satio navigations it seems like its impossible to employ PS games, perhaps SE might be collaborating with someone for deploying a new technology just like in Yari but i dont mean anything sensor-involved like GestureTek, it could be a game control pad that they might integrate on the sales package.
also we should not think that if once PS games run on satio it would run on other S60 as well. i dont think Sony is willing to do that (i myself do not want PS games to run on nokia or samsung, LOL), perhaps Sony is developing a patented PS framework for which games will be run. just like XNA in Xbox
Anyone remembers this idea by SE long time ago?
and imagine Satio being like this when a game pad is integrated
just my $0.02

Well that's exactly what SE rep is supposed to have said - Satio can run PlayStation games. i.e. PS1 level games. |

With the Hardware it has (GPU) it shouldn't have a problem running PS and PSP games at all. I suggest you all watch the E2 and E3 Demo running on a N95 on YouTube, that should give you an idea of what Satio is capable of.

it was just a metaphor. Satio computing power is around PS1/PSP but this doesn't mean that you can run games for these platforms on Satio

I remember asking if the gamepad came without the phone 3 years ago. How disappointed I was. XD

What did you expect PS3 games?
Anyway this is great news. If it does come with a gamepad attachment sooner or later then this can be a winner. Add in the fact that it has a stand and if you put a bluetooth controller on the market later on then you have a winner. |

Okay the whole gamepad thing is going a little overboard now
I wouldn't trust SE to follow this up, im expecting 3rd party developers to do this just like how they did with Quake and Doom. Id hate to carry around a gamepad lol not after being spoilt by Ngage and iPhone gaming.

Imagine if they made it run on a tv with PS1 graphics. Ouch. |

The only games mentioned on the Idio; (idou+satio) will have asphalt road and an unspecified prince of persia both in nHD format..info found at QJ.net ...also nice photos razec ive seen them before, but i'd like to see some particular controller which sits with the idio screen horizontal.

It all seems a bit vague and the devil is in the detail - unsurprisingly SE aren't providing any detail!
It's one thing to leverage the Playstation brand, but consumers will need to be very clear on exactly what that means - will the Satio be able to play games from any existing or shared library (such as the PSPs) or will everything need to be written/converted for the Satio first? How will these games be published or distributed, and how much will they cost? Certainly, to compete directly with the iPhone, the games need to be plentiful, easy to develop, easy to buy, and very cheap.
I've made this point before in another thread, but part of the iPhone's success in gaming is down to its multitouch screen, which make all kinds of gaming controls a lot easier to implement. With the Satio, input is a lot more restricted - yes it has a few more buttons, but they're not very ergonomically placed for gaming and the screen is much more limited.
