TomTom car kit now available to pre-order at the Apple Store for £99.95!

And that doesn't even include the app, sold separately - forget that!

I just can't imagine why anyone would buy that when £3 would buy you essentially the same thing on ebay. Ok, it wouldn't have built-in GPS, but then the iPhone does!

SDK 3.1.2 is also available now

now THIS is the news we really want.

Curious I know this SDK will only run on Intel based Mac's, however will the first few versions of XCode run on a G5 Mac and be able to update to which version? The reason I ask is if I can purchase a used iMac G5 on the cheap which will run the SDK for iPhone 3G/3GS coding then I can save a lot of money and begin much sooner than wait for an intel macbook for a reasonable price.

Thanks.

Xcode 3.1.4 and iPhone SDK 3.1 is the complete developer tools release for Mac OS X
10.5 Leopard. This package includes the Xcode 3.1.4 developer tools for Mac OS X
development as well as the SDK components and iPhone Simulator for iPhone OS 3.1
development.

Compatibility
Xcode 3.1.4, when used for Mac-only development, is compatible with Intel and
PowerPC Macs running Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 and later. Use of the iPhone SDK
requires an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X Leopard version 10.5.7 or later.
NOTE: this SDK and toolset are not intended for use with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow
Leopard. Please download the specific package for installation on Snow Leopard.

I saw that new advert for Pizza Hut today that said "Now, order with your iPhone."

Question... Couldn't you always order with your iPhone, seeing as it is, in fact, a phone?

lol, well if there is an app for Pizza Hut UK I can't find it.

I can see from google that there is one for Pizza Hut US (though its not available via iTunes in UK), and the US Pizza Hut web site portal is customised for the iphone screen, but the UK site isn't

... so I have no idea what thats about

didn't have much to do tonight so ran the new blackra1n to jailbreak my 3.1.2 3GS

amazingly quick jailbreak!

it installed the blackra1n app which gave the option to install cydia... or something called rock or something called Icy, both which claim to be faster than Cydia and offer other features... never heard of these? does anyone who has jailbroken have a preference between these 3?

TVCatchup now works on iPhone!
This service is free (except data charges of course) and provides UK free to air channels, though the iPhone beta service is limited to about 10 at present.

Works well from the 10 minutes I've been testing

just go to http://iphone.tvcatchup.com in your iphone browser

i still think Cydia is the best option, both icy and rock claim to use the repositories as cydia but there are still some things on cydia that u dont get in the other 2, granted they do load faster

the quality on tvcatchup is amazing, even on the 3G network

I have been using Cydia... which can be slow at times, but works well... I have not tried ICY or Rocky... so can't really comment... but have heard they are not that good.

Cheers
ENJOY

P.s. Have booked to see Apple Care on Wed for my cracked 3GS... Lets see how long this one lasts...

Good luck on the replacement. They really shouldn't take too long - unless your device was directly from provider which means it may have been locked. Correction - forgot that practice is only for screwing us in North America; I purchased directly from Apple store so mine is unlocked .

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Got my replacement...

Excellent stuff... it came with 3.1 on it, so was able to Jailbreak... Excellent...

When I spoke about the crack on the handset the genius advisor mentioned that Apple are aware of it and that it is due to the material they use for the back piece... but we still seem to be getting returns. He also mentioned that out of warranty they would not replace the handset due to a crack as it does not affect the operation of the handset...

One thing I have realised... Once Voda and Orange get the handset there will be a lot more returns especially as they have not sorted this cracking issue, which they are fully aware of...

Not good at all... Lets hope I get better life with this one...

Cheers

TomTom 1.1 is now available in the app store

unfortunately (for the Western Europe version) its another almost 1gb download even though the maps are the same version

What's New In This Version:
Enhanced GPS technology
- Shows your location on the map with greater precision
- Follows your car more accurately while you drive

New "Navigate to contact" engine:
- Handles many more address formats including abbreviations
- Better supports US addresses
