Thanks so much for looking.

I updated the firmware on my P1 and instantly after the WLAN didnt work and the bottom of the touchscreen required 2-3 pushes before it would work. (SEND/YES/NO the function buttons on bottom)

Yesterday the phone just kept resetting in a loop constantly turning on and off over and over. I turned it off and same thing, took the battery out for a while and tried again and just reset over and over.

I took the loss of not having a backup, ya wouldnt do a backup before all this, kept getting error that sony said didnt exist, either and just reinstalled the firmware again.

Now the phone works perfectly EXCEPT for the touchscreen. IT doesnt work at all. I can use the phone thru the jog dial but its killing me.

I emailed sony and if I dont have a valid receipt to show purchase date they will charge 185 to fix it. I explained that worked fine before the firmware update and guy didnt care --185.00 I think they are 200 on bay now.

SO MY QUESTION IS-- has this happened to anyone else?
Anyone know how to fix this??
Anyone know the keyboard shortcuts to do things?? My internet wont work with the WLAN on and I cant turn it off with jog dial.

Really would appreciate any help or advice with this.

Could be a corrupt download of the new firmware, I'd try reinstalling the firmware by pressing 'continue anyway' when SEUS tells you that you already have the latest version, BUT make sure you empty the 'db' folder contained within SEUS's program folder - this will force it to download a new copy fron SE's server.

exactly but the charge is 185.00 since out of warranty.
doesnt matter that the firmware update ruined the phone.

i didnt break it, there update did and even with insurance will still cost me at least 150.00 to get a new phone

they should fix for free.

i do appreciate everyones help still open for more suggestions

i doubt it

it worked great until 1st update and then bottom of screen took 2-3 taps to push the buttom.

i baby the phone and keep it on case and guard it like its my kid.

sony service really dropped the ball trying to charge 185.00 so makes me wonder if i will but the xperia since they dont support there customers

Hi,
My P1 touch screen also just stopped working. I did not have compressed air but used a tooth pick to get the dust out the corners of the screen and it is working perfectly now. Mine is also out of warrenty so the repair would be too exspensive. I am interested to know what you have upgrated to from your sony P1?

I loved that phone so much, thought it was the greatest ever since had the p800
After I couldnt get it to work fully an old gf mailed me back a 2g iphone, hacked it for tmobile and never looked back. Iphone 4 now and hacked it and works awesome.
