hi all
i currently own a dsc-w300. and really i cant complain about it. it really is a great camera. yes its 13.6mp, but its not just a larege number of mp, it actually takes quality photos with little noise. colour reproduction and everything else is good too. marco's are 'ok' but ive seen better.
now ive just seen this new dsc-w290, which has just come out. its sort of a downgrade, in terms of mp's. But id be gaining a wide angled lens and hd video recording and 5x optical zoom, compared to teh 3 i have now. and its all a bit smaller too.
id be losing manual exposure though. not really a biggie since i dont really take low light photos (like city night shots for example). But i may from time to time. but again, not a huge issue.
do people think its worth changing to? id be able to sell my dsc-w300 and buy the w290 with the money from it.
please dont suggest other cameras as ive already got a hd docking station for the camera.
thanks in advanced
o. heres a comparison for specs:

The sensor size in the W290 is quite a bit smaller so it's bound to produce noisier photos. Better see if you can find any actual sample shots and then decide if this is acceptable to you.

Keep the 1 you got, it has a bigger sensor & larger aperture, manual exposure, the W290 only has a better lcd which doesn't matter much. 1/1.7" is still a pretty small sensor to have 13.9megapixels on, my P100 has a 1/1.8" with only 5 megapixels on. |
