dead 8gb memory for w960i! |

My phone no longer recognizes the 8gb memory module. I have tried to update the firmware, but that fails. I think it fails because the media memory is inaccessible. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could recover or replace this memory? I need to upgrade my firmware to use skype (via fring) and it's driving me crazy that I can't upgrade. Any help would be great!

I've tried both already. The formatting won't even start because the phone does not even recognize the existence of the memory in the first place. I think I might have to replace the actual memory module in the phone. I've had a look and the card does not appear damaged at all. Any idea where I could find a replacement? Or better yet any other ideas to try before I go that far?

have you tested the phone with another memory card? |

Sadly the 8GB memory in the w960 is built in and not on a card. It is on a separate board inside the phone, so it can be replaced. But I don't know where I can find a replacement part. Short of that I've all but given up hope of the phone working as is. Thanks for the suggestions. |

On your computer open command prompt and type this:
chkdsk "drive letter" /f /x
where drive letter is the drive letter without the quotes.
eg. chkdsk E: /f /x
after scanning is completed, turn on your phone and see if it solved the problem.
Edit:
I forgot to mention. If above doesn't do, delete all files you added on the memory.

I tried your suggestion. I was stopped at the first step. The computer does not recognize the phone's storage. So no drive shows up in my computer. Thanks for the help. I'm going to take it to a phone repair shop and see if they have a replacement memory unit available.

Try this:
Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management and then Disk Management
If you see the drive there but it does not have a partition, then right click and choose Format (or create partition)
I hope this one will do |
