Phone won't work in the UK |

I don't know if you can help me on this.
I bought a phone off Ebay which I've done for the last 2 years and had no problems (I've not received it yet). This is a new Sony Ericsson C902 on Voda which showed the pictures of the phone, accessories and Voda box. It's only when I paid for it with Paypal and I went back to see about the delivery that I read the comment: Must be used outside the UK.
I emailed the seller to confirm this and to make sure it wasn't a typo and he emailed me back to say it can only be used outside the UK. To me that sounds strange.
It's my own fault because I never read it fully so I think there's no way to cancel it. Does anyone know how I could get this phone to work in the UK? I've upgraded the firmware on the last 2 SE's I've had, but I don't think it will be as easy as that. I could always try to sell it on Ebay but if there's any chance I can get it to work I'd try that first.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

If the seller says it wont work in the UK then it is blocked. Either because it has been reported stolen or lost. There is no way to make it work in the UK. Ebay have outlawed the selling of blocked phones.

Thanks for the info and the quick response.
I've emailed the seller telling him what has been said and asked him to cancel the order and for a full refund. If I get no joy then I've told him I'll report it to Ebay and see what action they want to take on it. I hope that's the end to it.

You've done just what I would have suggested - hopefully the seller will cancel the sale especially as he'll be in hot water with Ebay if you report him!
If he's been funny ask him for the phone's IMEI, and check it out with a service like CheckMEND who'll be able to tell you if the phone has been reported lost/stolen etc (for a small fee), then you'll have the evidence for Ebay. If he doesn't give you it, that would suggest something dodgy to me anyway and that he knows that phone is blocked!

According to the buyer, the ad says : the phone must be used outside the UK. So the seller must have known the phone is blocked.
Doesn't always mean theft though, could be insurance fraud, but that's illegal aswell.

He's emailed me back and said he'll refund my money but did say:
"i did stat clearly that it wouldn't work, it isnt a lost or stolen its not a UK phone"
Well whatever he says I'll be glad to get my phone back. Back to Ebay I go hehe.

Well not being a uk phone would not matter, I could get a (gsm) phone from New Zealand, Australia or almost any country around the world and it would work in the uk
