I just replaced my P1 with an X1 and have a question regarding the volume settings.

On the P1 it is possible to adjust the volumes independently for ringtone, message tone, alarms, multimedia etc. How can I do this on the X1?

All I can find is one over-all "Device" volume by tapping the speaker and on the volume up/down key.

I want the message and ring volumes high, but the alarm not so loud as I use my phone for waking me in the morning.

Also, is there a snooze function to give me an extra 5 mins in bed?

Cheers

I havn't found alternate volumes either but the snooze is on the right side opposite the dismiss menu when the alarm goes off, 2 presses, I keep pressing dismiss instead of snooze. The p1 understood you wanted a snooze and made it easy

I haven't seen anywhere in standard WM6.1 that lets you adjust volumes separately. But it is possible to do it though.

I have Photo Contacts Pro installed and it lets me separately adjust volume (from 0-OFF to 5-LOUD) for System sounds, SMS tones, and Ring volumes. It also lets you specify the type of ring for both SMS and Phone calls (Sound, Vibrate, Vibrate twice, Vibrate then sound, Vibrate and sound). These settings are stored in profiles which can be set manually or automatically throughout the day.

I only got my SE X1 yesterday. Great "device" but I am already missing my P1i

Althought I have muted everything... the X1 still make a sound occasionally, for example when i can't connect to a call... it beeps at me.

There doesnt seem to be a simple "MUTE" option

ps - Isn't the vibration 'mental' it scares me to death! ;P

Is it possible to mute sms sound without affecting call and alarm sound? Uf, I think about changing my fantastic P1 and buying X1 (screen, keyboard, edge, hsdp, etc) but it seems I would lost many nice features. What do you say doministry-it looks like you are quite satisfied.

There are separate volume controls in the X1, but, I don't know how to access them with standard WM. If you get a third party program with profiles then you will be able to set System, SMS, and ringtone sounds and volumes separately.

Hmm,

Also to WhyBe:

Settings> Sounds&Notifications> you can choose from over 20 sound actions of the device (!!!),

And for incoming call just choose "None" for it (no sound, no vibr.), or any configuration.

For sms you can choose between sound/no sound, vibr/no vibr., flash/no flash, display/no display. Independent, like all the rest of sound and notifications.
So why the heck any 3rd party software??!!
What more do you need??!!

koto

Well it's a great device with some glitches like any other have (different ones of course).
One of them is some little lags when switching orientation.
I was wondering for one day if to revert to my (beloved too!) P1,
but no, I won't.
It's a really more advanced device, plus billions of apps,
of which many are FREE. Processor makes difference too.
Great messaing with HTML reply.
There are many benefits of it, and yesterday I found an app which makes COMPLETE backup on your memory card!

I don't think you'll regret.

Since I was using UIQ 3 for years, just ask about which feature you need and I'll answer!

Thanks doministry Here are some features I am interested about:

- about sounds you already answered
- stereo bluetooth, how it works
- id track
- is there any lag when typing larger word docs (you know that doc to go 4 was our saviour in that area)
- playing H264 files (somebody already said it works like a charm). This one sucks on P1
- deciding which internet connection to use (group in P1)
- scribble notes
- pdf files - is it useful unlike on P1
- skype out calls,
- battery life

Generally I already like what you previously said and I think I am going for itl.

Yes, you are correct. I forgot about Sounds & Notifications parameters. But, third party software gives you more precise control of those parameters--specifically volume and per contact settings.

- battery life is good, comparable to P1, but I still play around a lot with X1 since it's a fresh thing, so hard to say, but I think it's really good.
- skype - don't use it
- sounds - as I mentioned, a lot of control. Uncomparably more than UIQ.
- did't find any track ID
- I don't use bloetooth headset, but there's plenty of supported profiles
- video - didn't really try that, all I can say yes: white paper says H264 is definitely there
- internet connections - it's great. It keeps connection how long you want. You can initialize it too independent of any app.
Regarding choices: there's a great little app called NoData which blocks unwanted operator data transfer. Browser automatically choose the existing connetion, mail has to be setup.
- word docs: well, built in app is 10 times better than the one on P1. And although it does not have so many options as Docs, I didn't notice ANY lag when writing on big ones
- pdf is great and fast
- notes: I love it. You can write, draw and record. Draws much better than P1. And you can store it on card, like also email attachements.

I would add: amazing number of free apps and software in general.
Great email client.
And some more......

Heya, regarding the X1, I have tomtom 6 on my p1i with the maps on it, just wondering if i get tomtom 7 on my x1 (which should come in next week! :] ) would importing the same maps from my p1i work on the x1? (i know p1 is symbian based, and x1 is WM based, however just wondering if the map .mid files would be universal? ).

Also, regarding the X1 keyboard, is it as efficient and easy to type up messages than it is on the P1's keyboard, i know its hard to compare bcoz they're a completely different layout and all, but just looking for opinions from ppl who have used both phones.

Thanks!
