Hi, people!

I am a newbie here. Bu i urgently need your help.

I got myself a P1i off Ebay. l love the phone very much. But i think i messed it up or something like that. I have done a reset and did not know that some applications will be wiped. Up to here, no big deal. Then i wanted to reinstall a new firmware; then comes the problem. MY PHONE CAN'T CONNECT to my PC. (Or it does) But the PC says Not recognized USB device. Is it the same for my 2 PC and 2 Laptops (Xp and Vista). As a result, SEUS doesn't work. I have already tried everything i knew could help.

Arrghhh!!! What should i do?

Help Please!!!!!!!!!!

I use WinXP SP2 in my PC,and the connection is very amazing.
Don't you forgot to install the PC Suite to ur PC?It contains driver for Windows to recognize ur P1i.
Further more the PC Suite for P1i is very easy to use,and thru it you can do a lot things with ur P1i.

Can you connect your phone to SE Suite using BT? If it isn't working, you may have a problem with some registry entry. Try uninstalling PC Suite, clean up all registry entries and re-install the app.

Are you connecting the cable properly at both ends (PC and phone)? The P1i's cable connector at the bottom of the phone is known to be a bit moody. Check if the green LED indicator at the bottom of the phone lights up.

Try using a different USB port to see if that helps.

Do you have a firewall running on your system (Windows, CrapAfee, Norton, Kaspersky etc.)? You might want to check if they're blocking the connection.

Thx for replying,

my XP and Vista are SP3. Yes i have installed PC Suite for XP and for Vista.

Yes, i can connect to the PC thru BT (doesn't always work though). No, the green light under doesn't lighten up when i connect thru USB. I only hear the connection sound and the USB icon in the phone's screen showing the successful connection. Yet, no connection thru PC Suite nor SEUS.

I tried the thing with the firewall to not avail. i have connected the cables as they should be.

Can it be that the SP3 is the problem?

Hi seequer

Follow these simple steps

Go to www.sonyericsson.com and download the LATEST version of PC Suite

Install it and reboot PC

Connect to your phone. It will work.

The next time this problem occurs, simply reinstall PC suite.

SEUS has its own drivers and doesn't need PCSuite to work. If you are having problems install the latest version of SEUS and follow the instructions to update the firmware on your P1. After the update you may have better luck connecting with PCSuite.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

When you connect the usb are you selecting "phone" or "file transfer mode" on the phone? (done by tapping the usb icon on the taskbar). It must be in "phone mode" for SEUS or PC Suite to pick it up.

Other than that all i can suggest is to download the latest PC Suite from the SE site.

Let us know how it goes...

I once had a problem with mRouter not installing with PC Suite due to some leftovers of previous installation. PC Suite will not see your phone if mRouter is not seeing your device...and as makbil said, if you just want to use SEUS, you don't need PC Suite ... MPE 1.7 is better option, though you still need mRouter for MPE to connect with your phone...

Thank you all for your eagerness to help!

I've tried (without success) all the options you have suggested. Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled newest version, restarted, changed cables and ports (both on my PCs & Notebooks). The drivers doesn't just load. Tried to update by searching automatically in the Net; No success.

Meanwhile, my gears recognize and synchronize our K800i (2 of them). I tried also with SEUS alone. It says to off the phone, extract and reinsert the battery, and to plug the cable while holding C; and that is it. After a while it says to start the process again. (Meaning it had no contact with the P1i).

Once plugged, i always choose phone mode. (Anyway file transfer mode doesn't also work). But i can still connect using BT.

I went out to one of my dude running XP, and there, his gear also says: " Unrecognized device". Now i am tired (slept too little) and going crazy

If that can help, here are some more SCs

And you are definatley using the most recent version of the PC Suite from the SE website?

This is very strange as it does seem to be a driver issue?

You mentioned that you have formated the phone - have you also tried running the format from the service screen?

input this when on the main menu:

"up" "*" "down" "down" "*" "down" "*"
("up" and "down" are one click of the jog dial)

then click on format internal disk, see if that fixes anything.

does anybody know if the version on the SE website is new? I haven't bothered to upgrade PC suite for a while - just wondering if the version on the website is bad? I'm using version 1.3.19 without problems - the version on the website is 1.5.26.

Hi Nipsen, got a new one for ya...

"Sync software, helpful pointers for when it just won't", or, "Tips for avoiding suicidal frustration brought on by repeated failed attempts to sync."

1: Plug in your phone, right click on the mrouter icon in your system tray, choose 'advanced settings' make sure USB and any sub check boxes are ticked, also view 'additional com ports', and put everything in the left box into the right one.

2: Try using a different USB port on your computer - preferably one that's hardwired onto the mainboard, and not on an expansion card or external hub.

3: Make sure that your drivers are installed correctly. To do this, open 'Device Manager' on your pc, attach the phone, check to see that no 'unknown devices' appear in the list on your computer (they will have exclaimation marks by the icons). If there are any, then try to update the drivers for these devices by pointing the 'update driver' wizard directly to C:Program FilesSony EricssonSony Ericsson Symbian 9 Drivers.

4: Install the most recent version of pcsuite - downloadable from SE's website.

BUT FIRST:

Uninstall your current pcsuite, delete all references to Sony Ericsson & the pcsuite from your registry (search from the top of the tree, as there may be some in both HKCU & HKLM), manually delete any drivers from your system32 folder (they all start with the letters 'zebr' for ease of search - make sure to get rid of the .inf files as well, again these start 'zebr'), remove any folders that are left in 'program files' (SE ones that is ).

And start again. This will at least eliminate, any question of corrupt drivers/registry settings (re: the pcsuite), as these may not have been overwritten by your new installation if they were already there. I know it's a pain, but conversely it's good to be methodical.

If this doesn't help then check your XP installation for missing dlls etc. using system file checker (start - run - sfc /startnow), you'll need your XP install CD at the ready, after doing this you'll need to run windows update.

5: Reflash the phone's firmware with SEUS - NB. ALL user data will be lost from the phone (apart from any that is held on your memory stick).

Hi,

thank you all for your replies. I have tried everything you suggested in the last posts. Still, i can't connect nor use SEUS.

I imagine that i may not have a problem if i plug the phone into a Mac. The problem is i don't know anybody with a Mac. .

Or i wil be looking for someone with a P1i and see if his can conect to my gears. May be the phone itself is somehow not OK.

Very annoying. I wanted soooo bad to have this very phone (P1i).
