I no longer have K800. I reckon that on bright day, color on G705 is slightly better. On dim light K800 wins hands down.

Here are some sample pic taken with various model all on Auto mode

That's exactly where the G705 comes in. He was referring to beach spyshots.

I wonder about the 'play stop key' at the top of the fone.. Is it work like the one on K750, W810, etc?

It it is then I'm so glad that finally SE did hear about our petition in this forum previously..

But.. but D90 with 300mm is so much nicer on the beach

@hwars
The play and stop button on top is just a short cut button to play and stop music on unlock position. One press it will play music and another press to stop it a shortbar on top indicating it on standby screen. You can multi taks like replying sms while playing music on the background.

@All
I just realize that UI in this phone is not laggy (while paying music unlike W910). Sound is not muzzled like W910. Very nice! The more I play with it the more I like it.

I just tested 3 phones same music same setting.
G705 comes top (music is clear and bass is tight)
N95 8GB second (clear but lack of punch)
W910 third (bassy but average)
Wonder if W705 sound will be any different.

The possible downside is while browsing net on original browser. It is not fast enough to render complicated site. It may stop a while, busy, and the screen light off/screen saver (looks like hang but not hang) while trying to render the unsupported format website. Light will comes on again (as if reboot) after few secs with a message of unsupported page. Normal txt and pics are not a problem. Limitation on processor but again this is just a lighweight phone not a pc. Even N95 has similar busy problem.

Nice photos! My buddy and I are really considering between this, C905 and i8510. On the other hand we don't think we really need S60 (as we only need lite multitasking), and we won't even think of watching movies on a mobile phone. Although coming from a Viewty, that would be a missed feature if we decide to go for an ... Got an opinion? A mini-review would be very appreciated

G705 or C905 or I8510? Is really depends on what you need.
If you want a better cam (macro, more res) and dont mind the bulk then C905 or i8510 is the better choice. If you need good gps map support then N95 8GB is a better one.

If you want a wifi phone, light and slim, good looking, easy torch, lesser depreciation, good sound with A200 friendliness then G705 is the answer.

I used to have c905, but sold it. For serious photo taking, I use dslr.

I personally use diff phones for diff occasion. For business application: X1 (WM). Relax travelling GPS and entertainment: N95 8GB. Weekend usage G705. I switch between phones with mutli sim (same number) option.

I dont watch video on the phone, no reason to do so on smallish screen. Phones cannot replace the dedicated AV gadgets nor the laptop/pc which all within access most of the time at home, car or office.

Like I said before, we like the same colour schemes and we surely use our phones in the same manner. You're helping me to seriously consider this phone. Now I have to decide whether the lack of VGA video recording will be worth downgrading.

@SIGHUP

Perhaps you dont need to downgrade. Buy one, use it for a while and decide whether it suits you. It is not much money. If you need to resell, the depreciation is most likely less than N95-2. You need to keep few phones anyway.

So far I find no brand or models that makes everything all well. There are bounds to have some functions that you wish to have but not available without compromising the mobility (weight vs size vs function). Example VGA rec or Xenon attachment on antique K750. There is no perfect replacement, rather just adequate.

I personally isn't going to miss vga rec much. I dont use it often enough. Vga rec is nice to have but not going to kill me if it doesnt. I am more concern about phonecam speed to capture candid moments. It takes approx 4 sec from standby on G705 to capture a 1st pic plus 2-3 sec for subsequent pics. It takes double time on N95-2 (burst mode) and subsequently longer time when auto focus kicks in on subsequent pics. I dislike slow cam as the lost candid moments is rather priceless.

Speaking of vid rec, Canon 5Dmk2 dslr takes full HD video, brilliant.

Oh yes, white one..

To me N95 8GB is still better looking than N97. But I will wait till I see the actual phone. Maybe by the time it is available mid next year, I badly need N95 replacement. Then there will be more announcement from other brands too like SE Hikaru, Nokia Eitri 3" vga 8mp cam with half keyboard which should be lighter and smaller than N97.

This is what Eldar say on G705

The G705 is a mid-range slider packed with a 3.2 Mpix camera, plastic casing and a remarkably loose battery cover. Apart from that it sports a quirky design and bog-standard A200 platfrom with C905-esque software. All in all, it has all the makings of a fairly decent offering - we can't even say it's vastly overpriced for a fashion-conscious solution. Obviously, there is a great many of other offerings retailing at this price point, and the G705's WiFi connectivity or GPS (in all honestly, WayFinder, the version found in the phone, is probably the worst possible application for navigation) doesn't seem to be much of an advantage.

Personally, I like the G705 for the way it feels in the hand and its overall robust feature pack. It will also take a bite of two of the Sony Ericsson W595's sales, even though the latter is positioned in a different way.

Loose battery cover? On mine (black) is solid... zilch movement :confused:

Is there any diff build quality on a silken-gold cover (Eldar's) with a black one?

I notice there are few small holders/feeders, two on top, sides and bottom to lock/hold the bat cover in its position. I must admit that they look fragile. The top two are specially dangerous. Open it on wrong angle and it may chip off or damaged. That may cause looseness.

G705 slider is not as solid as W910, but it is not worse than N95.

The flash everchanging themes looks very nice on black G705. Here is the link to the theme
