5800 is an excellent touch phone for price/features. yes idou is ahead in cpu, camera, display size, and design but such thing is easy for nokia to trumph while offering a lower price tag and much better customer service. UI is indeed SE's greatest strength that can even fare against iphone UI but if in the end idou wont deliver the much better interface you guys are claiming and just slap a useless UI like Xperia then the hype is not worth it.

And especially in price. Idou is never going to be the success 5800 is today. Why? The price of course!
Well, it is in fact a premium device.
The 5800 is your average joe's cheaper I-want-a-phone-with-a-big-touchscreen alternative to the iPhone. LG has one too, although crappier.

Well I do agree on Xperia's UI being a tad useless (sorry Miz), but from what I've so far seen, I think that Idou's is going to be great.

Well, im not saying Idou is crap compared to 5800. The thing is that you can't compare those two phones because, as you say, they are aimed for two diffrent buyers.
I could be getting the Idou, if they equip it with a 3.5mm jack. If they don't all I'm gonna do is laugh at them..
So: Are we going to se a 5800 competitor from SE in the future? |

I wasn't claiming the opposite.

Im not accusing you for that either, I think;

Anyways, is ther any chance that SE is going to come up with a cheap TS device with AF and some sort of music relations, lets say walkman and 3.5mm? |

@nightblade: well if the Lg you are talking about is the arena then i must agree with you 101%. its simply too desperate move for a giant to copy the competitors concept UI and market it their own while in real life it has mediocre performance and lackluster software expandability compared to its target competitor.

@razec: I don't think he meant the Arena as it has already been marketed as a premium device, so it's not a 5800 alternative, I'm guessing it's the Cookie.
What I said about Idou was because from what I see, they will put a modified/tweaked touchscreen S60v5 as the OS. But if SE can really pull another UIQ-style coup at Symbian then it may be just the thing for success... |

@Razec
Actually, the Arena is for the average joe a really nice device. Just had one for a week and the UI is the best I've seen in a touch device so far (except iPhone and maybe Android). As said, it's targeted completely different too 5800 and so it's totally wrong too see it as LG's answer to it.
It may look like iPhone, but in fact it's going to be another succes for LG, so why should they bother? |

I was talking about the Cookie.
I've been told that the phone isn't too good, despite it's big (and laggy) touchscreen.
The Arena seems nice, though (yet laggy as well...).

Arena is not really laggy. It is, but less than other touch phones (like UltraTOUCH, Pixon, Renoir etc.)
I was quite positive about the Cookie as well. It is certainly better than renoir in terms of interface, and the price is just soo sweet |

Idou music through the fastport is very good. It has very loud external speakers as well. I saw a grass green Idou, I hope I never see it again. Probobly a test or designed while smoking pot.
Sadly, before this comes out there will be many good phones being released and this phone will be seriously expensive. Samsung will flood the market with more touchscreens, Nokia is doing more Xpressmusic phones with touchscreen this Summer even one cheaper than the 5800. only have one touchscreen at the moment which is the X1, the G900 is already quite rare.
At the moment, I'm hoping for an Xperia with WinMo 6.5. This is a really good and functional UI. I have tried WinMo 7 which sucks. Its like Touchwizz and Android and WinMo all mashed up together. You have different home screens like the Android thing where you swipe across and you can add widgets like on Samsungs, but poorly executed. The big Windows symbol ruins the whole look. WinMo 6.5 on an Xperia (without the slow panels) with a decent camera and Walkman player is what I need and are listening this time.....................unless they cancel! |

WinMo 7 sucks NOW, a looooong time before release (even 6.5 not here!).
So it's nonsense to comment it right now! It's under working progress!

No, it isn't good. The fastport breaks down in less than a year if you use the phone as a music player. |
