QVGA video again? so disappinting imo. all the other brands out there were spawning better video rec. quality than SE. be it imaging based or not. it's a big slap in the face of SE which happens to have one of it's parent excelling alot in this aspect.

@razec: It is only a Walkman phone and as we know, Walkman camera features follow Cyber-shot by around a year when SE is being normal, so we can't expect better video in a Walkman phone until we see it in a Cyber-shot, in my opinion.

Too be honest, I suspected that Hikaru and this device talked about here were different devices, as I have heard a few people mention these specs along with the fact it is not a smartphone, yet we know Hikaru is a smartphone.

Those of you keeping up with Clauf's Keitai thread may have noticed this interesting comment in Sony α's post:

Further news says we will see a BRAVIA branded handset in the UK next year, as the HTC HD takes displays to a new level. Sony Ericsson are going to be using the Sony x BRAVIA tie to launch High resolution Mobiles in the UK, although - keep in mind this may only be the one 'Hero Handset', in the form of the 8800 from Nokia - in saying it will be highly sought after - so not an average run of the mill handset.

So a Bravia handset soon perhaps?

Cheers Sony α!

i hope this w905/hikaru/whatever is slim...about 14-15mm
that would be perfect.
But the specs are too good for a 14mm phone.

If you wait until next april, you will probably get a lot more info on upcoming open devices from the then ex-sonyericsson employees.

I cant wait for MWC. That 8mp pixel walkman seems nice. But i say at least release it after having 3-4 mid range 5mp walkmans then release it. At least to break the mold and not have the w902 all exclusive. Walkman 4.0 surely will be a beadt compared to the latest version. Im not completly sure though if they would make the first 8mp walkman a smartphone. Have a couple to break the mold then do so. And the smartphone one seeing as its a smartphone should be w980 or some sorts to be the 960 succesor.

Ok I have now made it much much easier to quickly find the Walkman, Cyber-shot and Smartphone sections for those that wanted it!

Sorry for responding so late - Excellent work Oli, truely Excellent! You've captured my imagination on the front page layout and improved very well.

Smape mentions something about the new version panel UI that future xperias will feature later on. i do hope it will feature more eyecandies as well as more useful panels. not the gimmicky panels that x1 has. i'm also eager to see SE's s60 phone.

Those panels are not gimmicky imho, very useful. I cannot WAIT to see 's S60 phone either ... along with the integrated TAK for GUI we'll see better improvments than SBP Shell & panels.

Any updates on the latest X series?

Project Capuchin evolution includes Symbian Foundation

Sony Ericsson will base phones on the upcoming Symbian Foundation platform in the future but as the Symbian Foundation is not a reality yet, we suggest you use the Symbian/S60 5th edition SDK for application development as this will be compatible with the upcoming Symbian Foundation platform.

I'm eager to see SE S60 phone. though after seeing the WM6.5 screenshots i become more interested on the latter. esp that i still doubt nokia s60 UI experts are that good when it comes to UI experience.

Thanks to Waschbär Rocky at SE-World, we can now solve the sentences by prudent.

Well Hicaru is interesting with these aspects:

* One feature has been copied from N96
* One feature that has been accused of missing from Walkman for a long time now
* Screen size has been changed in positive aspects

What is the fuzz with Hicaru being an UIQ device? I dont get that.

Copied from N96: The kickstand.

Missing from Walkman: 3.5mm jack.

Screen size: 2.6".

Oh god... Nokia copied Sony Ericsson with the kickstand. I think Sony Ericsson was the first company the offered a kickstand into a phone with the SO905i... a walkman/entertainment device for Japanese operator DoCoMo.

Nice. But thats not outside japan so it could be considered that way. No?
Also the 8mp camera walkman would be a w905 w910 model right? So then why not have it a swivel evolved? Like a swivel phone with 8mp. Succesor to the w900
