I'm trying to install Opera Mini on my W380i after a firmware update (Voda firmware but unlocked) and every time I download it and try to install it, I get the error message 'Operation Failed'. It will download Opera Mini, but as soon as it tries installing it I get the error message. I've selected the correct internet profile in the Java settings, tried different signed versions, tried the older version, tried installing it via the SE software suite and had the same result.
The only thing that I can think of is my O2 settings. I've had to input them manually as I can't get the settings sent to the phone - they arrive as a few garbled characters in a standard text message, i.e. no settings and no 'install' option in the options menu, that's if they arrive at all! The settings I have inputted work for the default browser, I can send/receive MMSes, check my Sky email account, everything seems to work except for Opera Mini!
Any help greatly appreciated, if you're running Opera Mini on a W380i if you could post them here so I can compare them with what I've got I would be most grateful!

Just tried installing Google Maps on the W380i with the same result - could this be a Java permissions/internet access issue?

"operation failed" appears with opera mini only?
this is a known issue with se phones. usually flashing(not upgrading) the phone fixes this.

I was beginning to wonder if there was a problem, it also has problems with accessing memory cards too, it keeps saying 'no files' when there are files on the damn thing! it will work sometimes, then stop again.
Seems I have a faulty unit then

probably.
but regarding the "operation failed" thing, just try to flash your phone using one of those online methods.

Remove the memory card then try installing it, by default all java stuff is installed on the memory card and since your having issues with the memory card that maybe why.

Now why didn't I think of that?
Just done that and the apps installed fine! Looks like a memory card bug, don't know whether to try flashing the phone or whether to return it to the person I got it from as I bought this as fully working.

Came with the phone, tried another card with the same problem. It's reading the original mem stick at the mo... uh, hold on, no it isn't! Can't seem to find how to format it either in case it's that! Probably having a blonde moment, am tired after all!

To format card in phone:
File Manager -> Memory Status -> Memory Card
Click Option and then 'Format memory card'

Wrong phone code maybe? 0000 is the default code, if you havenīt changed it to something else.

No, phone code was correct - just got the error message. I've just managed to format it though, after removing and re-inserting the M2 a few times. So far since formatting it (About an hour) it's been recognising the card OK, fingers crossed it will continue to do so!
