Hello guys!!

Im wondering if overcharging can damage our phones?

I use to overcharged my SE k810i lately.

Does it shortens the battery life or does the charger stop charging when the battery is full?

Anyway my charger is a CST-75

Thanks in advance!

I think it doesn't do any harm. I use to let all my phones charge all night and never had any issues with battery life. My W800 for e.g. is running great after 3 years.

It doesnt stop over charging because if it did, then your battery wouldnt be full, thats what i think.
neways heres something i got

Will overcharging my battery hurt it ?

Yes, overcharging a battery causes it to overheat and can result in damage to the battery, causing degraded performance and eventual failure. As a general rule, do not charge a battery for more than 24 hours.

I guess this is true with most rechargeable devices?

yeah you could keep it charging over night like 8-12 hours, and i think that wouldnt hurt ur batt much, becuz i personally do that.
keep it for over night charging but not day and night, as that says, dont do overcharging over 24hrs.

But once its charged, overcharging should have some efffect, even if its lil, cuz over is mostly bad.

N yeah, thats true for all rechargeable batteries. Unless they are specially designed to stop charging once they are full.

It think my charger is like that! (The one specially designed to stop charging when batt is full) because when i charge my phone the temperature of my charger rises but when it is overcharged the charger cools down like you are not using it.

I think all cellphone batteries are specialy designed to stop charging when full, and thats why it cools down, what i noticed is that if its full and you start using it while on the charger after a while it will start charging again, so my guess is you cant "over charge" a cellphone batt.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense, a bottle of water can only take so much liquid. I would've liked to support this statement with calculations and what not, but batteries are not my forte. I'm sure max-wedge can better explain this one...

gola,
Take this stance,
Suppose that botle was connected to a pipe(with no loose connections and the pressure is high) and the water is let to flow in, after its full(n still connected), then its not gonna be a bottle if you would keep it long time every day.

Also chargers consume energy even when they r just plugged in.

I think it stops charging if the battery is already full. I have k800i and whenever I charge the phone, the charger and the phone are both warm but it cools down if the battery is full even if the charger is still plugged in.

@crossmatch

Does the text OPTIMIZED Charging related to the chargers that stops charging when it is fully charge??

But the text optimized charging is seen only when the phone is turned ON while charging..
