Noob question:How to backup G900 to M2 card?

Is there an app that can back up all files in the G900 phone memory to the M2 card?

My prior phone/pda is on Palm OS. I am used to backing up all files in the phone/pda to an SD card. In case the phone/pda crashes badly and need a hard reset to refresh it to factory defaults, I can always restore all my data and 3rd party apps from the SD card, even when I am away from my PC.

Hence I wonder what SE G900 or generally UIQ3 phone users are practicing to enable them to restore their phone after a hard reset.

Thanks!

Welcome to Esato !

If you are looking for a backup app like Sprite, SPB or Resco, then no, afaik such an app does not exist for UIQ3.

I couldn't even find an app like PIM Backup (WM), where you can backup your contacts, calendar entries, SMS, e-mail, notes and call log in a single file on your memory card.

Thanks for your replies.

I am looking for a 3rd party app to do the entire backup of the G900 phone memory.

Anyone can suggest some apps for me to try out?

Thanks again!

The ones I mentioned (SPB, etc.) are 3rd party apps, but I'm afraid such apps are not available for UIQ3.

You can make backups of your Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes on memory stick using native Contacts Manager, Calendar Manager etc. This is usually enough to get you running decently. I keep the sis installation files and codes in a separate folder on the memory stick as well, so I can install the most crucial files if I am faced with a situation where I have to do a master reset. Unfortunately, there is no way to keep backups of your inbox (email & SMS).

U can back up contacts, calendar & tasks on the memory stick. IMHO its a bad idea to have a complete backup option on the MS, u'd forget then backing up ur info on PC & in case the MS stops working, u lose the phone, it gets stolen etc... u'll end up with no phone nor MS to restore from. On PC use PC suite for a backup/restore for the same phone or MPE when u change phones & I also use the SyncMl option to be on the safe side as well.

True, using MyPhoneExplorer you can make a backup of your SMS but it needs a PC, you cant use the memory stick for the backup which was the main point of the original question.
