Petrol Smell While Driving? |

Hello Everyone!
Ok this past 2days ive been driving my car about but for some reason through the vents i can smell fuel constantly, dont have a clue why its happening but no leaking to the ground has occured (kept checking it in the garage whilst at work last night) but its the continous smell. I mean ok i like the smell of petrol but bloody helllll only to a extent, not constantly inhaling 
If anyone could shed some light on this situation i would be very greatful as there are alot of people on this forum who will know about faults 
If any help its a 1999 Renault Megane

I don't know much about cars, but from what I've picked up it's probably one of the pipes that brings the petrol in from the tank in the engine bay that's either split a tiny bit or has a very small leak. Not enough for it to drip onto the floor, but if it's quite high up probably enough to waft the smell near to the air vent entrances. Even a single drop of fuel can stink the car out.
Used to happen in my old Astra, the back right hand side used to stink, turns out a bit of fuel had splashed onto the metal chasis underneath the rear seats (only like one drop very rarely, was all sorted), but it caused the back of it to stink of petrol.

Deffo fuel lines going into the engine bay. Get it checked as you could end up with a fire in the engine bay if the petrol hits the engine when hot.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose  |

Cheers for the advice so far guys.
The smell is coming from the engine though on this occasion.
Need to go out shortly so ill see how it goes

The smell will be coming from the engine. Its certainly coming from the fuel lines. No other place it can be.
I tried sniffing coke once but didnt like it. The bubbles kept going up my nose |

the fuel smell could be coming from any point of the fuel delivery cycle, from the fuel tank at the back of the car, along the fuel lines into the engine bay, or from the fuel feed into the engine.
There are so many possibilities that you can't just guess - you need to track back from the engine all the way to the fuel tank until you locate the problem. It could be a leak in the lines or connections, or it could be fumes from a poorly sealed fuel tank or a rich fuel mix.
