I really think it looks absolutely dreadful. Still its their 1st effort but they will have to go a long way to get up there with the other Touch devices out there. The UI looks really old-fashioned.
It looks aesthetically much much better than UIQ. Thats coming from experience, i have used UIQ and its extremely boring to use and it looks old.
lol...you have clearly strante tastes
nevertheless the crap UI look (iīm sure it will improve), the 5800 is amazing in terms of specs/price ratio...i have to give it to Nokia, well done
if it is as bad as u say it is, we'll see how much it sells.

Do you have problems reading??? I praised the device, and i donīt deny it will sell like hotcakes!
I only consider UIQ is a superior and more elegant UI, and if SE was not run by monkeys they coud create superior devices. However UIQ is history now, so i might consider get one of these. SE is going down from what i see...if they are going to use s60, then to hell with them, i will use the original (Nokia)

wow, what an extensive review:
http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-5800-2-en.shtml
at the price of EUR280, this is the iPhone on the cheap, but it does all the important stuff ie web browsing, many input options on-screen,
media playback, radio, camera... damn, i'm gonna buy this over the X1 that's 3X more expensive!!

Yeah, and you don't have to put up with Micro$hit Just imagine working with a OS for which there are no viruses! although is very popular (unlike windows mobile). I prefer the non touch s60. In the first half of next year we should see the 'hi end' version of s60 v5 with a 8mp camera and half hidef video recording at 30fps (720p) Fingers crossed for wimax - now that's a important feature .

It's just a stylus people, honestly, I don't see how it is going to significantly detriment the sales. With that said, it doesn't really matter. Once again, Nokia hit the nail on the head. Big ups...

Well people fail to find any down side to a brilliant phone, they nit pick, just like they're doing to the stylus.

LOL! Of course UIQ GUI is more superior in terms of usability, menu arrangements, etc - save the icons look like they belong on an BE-OS. UIQ has had a LONG time to mature, and quite frankly those in charge of it dropped the ball a LONG long time ago ... keeping all manufacturers at GPRS for years and 3G for about 2yrs if that (EDGE was always ignored).
UIQ devices being superior to what S60 Nokia offered?! I want 5 of what you're on for Friday night! S60 has progressed to not only 3G & HSDPA faster than UIQ, but also supporting PBX and UMA, WiFi, and DLNA as firsts as well. Even the range of themes was less limiting. Devices had much better range and every year fit more and more target markets. Heck you're even considering one and praising Nokia ... something a first for even you Ares; I'm shocked but happy to see it.
All in All ... SonyEricsson couldn't have kept UIQ alive on their own. Motorola truely wasn't in to it with its full heart. They never are. Remember, Motorola screwed Sendo before and then bought out their development team and they had no better places to go before SE purchased UIQ. Now even SE is considering Andriod : something I think they should abandon, since Motorola is going to screw them again there. Andriod has a LONG time to progress in the handheld market and they're learning things from Apple (mobile store, just like RIM just announced one of their own and for providers) but Motorola has MUCH more experience with Linux in their developers than with UIQ/or SE's dev's.
Just remember Motorola's experience with Linux+Java (MotoMAGX, and previous iterations) along with their dual personality alliance with Linux Mobile Alliance & Andriod.

wow, where does that leave the X1? looks like a premature end for the Windows X1 anyways.

nevertheless, Nokia/s60 still has nothing directly comparable to the p1 (ts + pysical keyboard)...
