Yes you will loose the GPS if you take the walkman edition, and yes it's true that big screens are very nice for mp3 players like my fabulous Samsung P2 and that a 2.4/2.6'' screen are very comfy for a phone |

I don't know much about sliders. do you lock the phone by shutting it? have you access to the phone without unfolding the keypad? |

I like the G looks better, classy whereas W is a lil fuzzy.

Yes. This phone will lock and call will end when you shut it. You can answer a call by sliding it down. That is better than the dual slider of Nokia N series where you sliding down won't answer the call or shutting the slider won't end the call unless manually pressing the keys.
To access without sliding, you need to press the left shortcut than press the ok shortcut.

GPS is a gimmick I seldom use on the iPhone and would not miss it on a W705, but I would like to have a phone for the first time. I like the styling of both, but the W uses VodafoneNZ frequencies (W-CDMA 900, 1900, 2100) only while the G705a can also use TelecomNZ frequencies (W-CDMA 850) and I'd like a phone which can do both but it's not essential because I intend to get a 3G wifi router
Also the G705a is available very soon but the W705 is some months away - I think.
So it's features vs multiple frquencies and less waiting time. Hmmm...

TBH the walkman features are not much, if you mod your phone with walkman acoustics then you loose very little

GSMArena have their review up:

Good review, but full of errors of the phones they have compared the G705 to. Says W705 also has wi-fi and GPS (No GPS in W705). |

Err.. I thought G705 was compared with a Nokia in that review?

Notice the size and the weight on G705 for the same 2.4" screen with wifi, GPS, HSPDA and lower price? Its not bad at all. Both colors sold out for a whole week in Singapore. Heard distributor is rushing fresh shipment.

@islandprd: I agree with you completely, my previous post was because I read the review and saw that it was compared to a Nokia (that's not even released yet).

I dont own E66, but the G705 HSDPA is faster than N958GB. I get a bursting of 5-6mbs as modem connection to my laptop while N958GB is less than half. Awesome |

@islandprd: Now that's interesting, I always thought N95 8GB is better hardware-wise. Especially since it comes from a totally different class.

Maybe the usb speed on N958GB is slower? Overall download speed is not much diff. The problem with hsdpa 7.2mpbs is still limited to certain areas here, mostly still on older 3.6mbps. |
