OK, I was about 100% about to buy 2 Iphone 3G contracts this week, till I started to see threads where people are having problems with hairline cracks appearing at stresspoints on the rear of the casing. Most notably around the headphone jack, the silent switch, the dock connector and around the small case screws.

The cracks are most apparent on the white 16GB models, as the cracks fill with dirt and become more visible. Cracks have been also reported on the black too though, but are harder to see.

A lot of people have called BS, and blamed droppers, but the evidence towards an alledged manufacturing fault appears to me to be overwhelming and therefore seems likely.

Anyone here suffering the same, or is it just internet wildfire?

I know on my cousins iPhone 3G, one of the stereo speakers has packed up and it keeps crashing and restarting etc, not a good first sign.

I've started to hear quite a few complaints actually about the build quality now...
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

Ooop. Thats a pity as it is such a nice looking device. A recall would cost them millions.

It doesn't look that easy to change the rear panel?
