Analyst downgrades Nokia after iPhone 3G |

Nokia shares are no longer recommended after the launch of the iPhone 3G, analysts at American Technology Research said late yesterday. Experts at the financial group dropped their valuation for Nokia from Buy to Neutral in the belief that a raft of "third-generation smart-phone introductions" due for the second half of 2008 and early 2009 are liable to hurt Nokia without clear signs that it can match the same pace. The smartphone industry is increasingly competitive and puts added pressure on the Finnish company, which leads the world smartphone market.
"While [its] valuation is attractive and sentiment low, we do not recommend new money until we get a competitive response from Nokia," AmTech says.

So on the strength of one new phone by Apple, Nokia they say are suddenly no competition and are going to fall by the wayside. Complete crap. Nokia has still kept going as market leader despite stiff competition. I cant stand analysts who sit about all day researching aload of crap with nothing better to do. Tut. Not everyone wants an iphone or can afford one so i seriously cant see how this one phone is going to see off Nokia. |

Let me laugh at this "report"...
Aaaaaahahahahhahahahahahhahahaa
So Apple announces 1 (one) 3G phone and Nokia is no longer market leading since it can't and don't have what?
Edit:
Nokia Q1 2008: 115.5m units shipped which of 14,5m were smartphones.
Apple Q1 2008: 1.7m units shipped.
Déjà vu
Aaaaaahahahahhahahahahahhahahaa

Only an American finacial company would issue such a report. Heck half of America did not know about unlocked, 3G phones before Apple came out with the iPhone.
Nokia will dominate for years to come.

Dont get me wrong the iphone is nice but anyone would think Apple invented 3G phones. Nokia over the years has always despite competition been ahead in the market and nothing has yet touched them. You cant write off a company cos one company releases one particular phone. Your average mobile consumer cannot afford this its hardly mass market. |

Hi all,
I wonder just how many Apples shares he bought long and how many Nokia shares he shorted before issuing that statement.
Absolutely pathetic he could of said the 3G iphone will now be more popular and sell in more countries and may start taking market share from others but that statement is a joke.
Oh and in case he missed Nokia are launching the E71 soon a highly anticipated and wanted Business device as well as it's first touch screen device before the end of the Year. Only a fool would right Nokia off quite yet anyway i think BB's new devices pose a bigger threat to everyones market share especially the Thunder there first touch screen device.

Nokia know more about phones than Apple and people love Nokia. Nokia know more about selling mass market like SonyEricsson too and they know what consumers want. Apple just make 1 expensive model you can only get through expensive contracts and also miss out some important features in their phone. Thats why Nokia are market leading and i say SonyEricsson too. They need to release more phones before getting big headed and saying MOVE OVER NOKIA. Lol. |

Ditto.
from my observations, sometimes it's better off not knowing. |

I really could't give a toss about Apple iPhones. Yeah they make great PC' and laptops and yes they created in icon with iPod's, but they are and never will be a MAJOR player in the phone market.
Allthough Nokia did start life as a manufacturer of cardboard boxes!!!
