Apple unveils the 3G iPhone |

After the initial release, I tried in vain to upload some video. I then went back to the store and the Vodafone staff very kindly let me jump the queue to try the phone and take some photos. Standby while I upload them. It'll be at least 1/2 an hour. I'll also have another go at uploading the video. I've gotta head to work in less than 3 hrs though and I've been up all night...
As I write this the Vodafone Auckland store will have sold out (they were comparing the number of customers waiting to thier stock as I left) which means the Wellington and Christchurch stores are probably the same. More are available at other stores and at VodafoneNZ's Online store.
Edit: iPhone Unboxing photos
Check it out!
Yes it's the iPhone 3G, no I haven't bought it... yet.
No I don't know the download speed. I asked but the staff couldn't tell me, and didn't have one set up to test in this way. I did get to try a working demo model and take some pics so - enjoy!
It did synch with my HBH-PV605 BT headset ok and and also with my V640i via BT but did not list the phone name. Only 'Mobile Phone' came up; Object Push was listed under services in my phone.
No camera settings are available at all.
Goodnight

13,000 per sec = 60M per hour
No chance of that no of sales - maybe failed attempts to log in?

Point accepted - but it does seem a phenomenal number (per sec) |

I went and had a look at one today. I didn't find it very special at all in comparison to the original. The most interesting part was the fake contacts people had written into the phonebook.

I have some questions with this new iPhone..
What happens to Installer now? Will developers bother putting anything on there now?
What if.. *ahem* I don't want to pay for some apps.. ?
If you buy it online eg through CPW, do they still force you to sign up for a contract? Or could I say, order one on the £75 contract, get the iPhone for free and then unlock it?

I'm thinking that some developers will use the SDK and take the official route via iTunes, but there will be some developers who will stay well clear.
I guess if you don't want to *ahem* pay for apps you can't have 'em!
you can't get the 3g iphone without committing to a contract, at least not until the payg comes along nearer to Christmas
