Motorola this morning brought many of its home cellphone features to a tougher environment with the MC75. Designed chiefly for in-the-field users with a ruggedized shell, the Windows Mobile 6 handset nonetheless is nonetheless upscale and includes both HSDPA-based 3G for GSM networks as well as EVDO Revision A for Sprint, Verizon, and other CDMA phone carriers' 3G services. An 802.11a/g Wi-Fi connection fills in remaining gaps.

A 2-megapixel camera with autofocus is used not just for typical photos but also scanning bar codes and other more official purposes, according to Motorola. In addition to the camera and wireless, the handset has a large 3.5-inch touchscreen with a 640x480 screen that provides much more space for apps. A 624MHz Intel XScale processor helps offload the extra visual demand and promises that virtually all Windows Mobile apps run smoothly.
