ok,

so i've had my N95 8gb for a couple of weeks.

the firmware is the latest, etc. but it's got so many bugs with the memory/music player!!

I'll drag and drop some music into the music folder, or do it via WMP, and then upon disconnecting the phone, and going to mucis player to "refresh" it freezes.... can sit there for hours frozen if i left it.

I can then hold menu, and quit it using C, but if i then try to start the music player, it'll not open fully, yet still be open according to the phone.

So i restart it, and connect to USB to retry, and it won't register with the computer/show the USB connection sign after i select whether iw ant data transfer, etc.

And this cycle goes on and on!!!

I got music fine on it initially!

What's suddenly gone wrong!?

@adramshaw

Is it a network branded version or Sim Free Generic?

You say you got it a few weeks ago was it brand new and unused?

Once you answer those questions i will have some suggestions for you as your problems are not common to other N95 8GB users and clearly you should not have them either.

I just copy the music in the fone in mass storage mode, imo its pointless to use that pc suite feature. Its far easier and simple

Hello.

I've just had a good ol' shout at my phone! can think of a million better things to do on a sunny sunday!

It's a generic unlocked version. Bought on ebay a few weeks back. Was nearly new then, and seemed to work fine then, didn't have these music problems till early last week! (after 2 weeks or so of me having it)

I've had too many phones in my life to list! I can't remember some, but i certainly know that in the past 4 years, i've got through about 40.

The shortest time i've had a phone for is... 21 hours.

delete the internal memory!?

What do you mean by that?

i have loads of applications etc. on there :'(

Think the problem actually started happening after i "restored" the disk image i had backed up from an only N95 8gb i had!

Don't know if that would change anything

Hi adramshaw

Can you explain better what you mean by installed a backed up disk image? as that really sounds like it may have caused your problems. Was it from this phone or another one? Personally i never back up or restore anything and it seems to mean i avoid a lot of problems this can cause.

Really my advice would be to set it up as a new device again,
re format the Mass Memory and also re format the phone by entering *#7370#. In fact i would also re load the firmware as well if it will let you. This way you will have it if it is brand new phone. It may take you a little time to re set it up and install apps but in the long run will be well worth it IMO.

the more music i put on mine the longer it takes for my music player to refresh

this is something that i have just learned to accept lol

although a few others have reported that if you upload music onto your phone and select the media player option when connecting your usb cable...u will not need to refresh your music list.......
