We know it from good source that this month, possibly already next week, HTC will release ROM update for HTC TyTN II that will ship with improved graphics drivers and will offer improved performance. It will be ROM update for HTC TyTN II but not for other versions (branding) of this phone like AT&T Tilt, etc.

"Better" drivers does probably not mean accelerated drivers.

actually, it says "improved", not "better"... but as this is a hearsay story I'm not sure how much you can really derive from the words used
lets wait and see

Do you still use your TYTN2 masseur?

not alot. certainly not as a phone!
I mostly use it as a GPS (with garmin and tomtom software) and lately as a wifi router to get 3g & hsdpa speeds on my iphone

@masseur,
The reason why I am not expecting new drivers is because of what HTC said themselves in February when they promised a new ROM.

fair enough, I'd forgotten about that story and was replying to your comment assuming it was based on the original post
hmmm.. well I'll give it a try anyway. I was going to sell my TyTN II this week but I can hang on a bit longer to check out the update

more news on this upgrade from MoDaCo
apparantly the update includes windows mobile 6.1 "with improvements such as the 'Getting Started' wizard, Threaded SMS and general performance and battery life updates, as well as HTC's 'video performance' update. So what's it like? Performance IS improved, however with no real video acceleration"

I traded my Kaiser for a Hermes - only to be left with a feeling of having been ripped off again. Previous models of Hermes had transflective displays. This is not the case with the latest models though. These have transmissive displays and not the quite bright type used in the Kaiser but another one that is completely unreadable in sunlight! The keyboard is very nice though, slightly better than the Kaiser's.

Sorry, I missed the connection of that with the TyTN II firmware update?
As I'm still waiting payment for my sold TyTN II (tomorrow hopefully) I did this update last night and the TyTN II definitly feels quicker. I have yet to try videos but I'll do that today and install a couple of other things and give this a work out before I (hopefully) lose it tomorrow

I was going to add this line:
If HTC would add accelerated drivers then I could consider trading back
but pooped out before finishing the post and just pressed Submit so it ended up looking like a post for some other thread...

aha! I see
I'm having difficulty with the first application I have installed, SuperSnap, a screen capture program I have used for ages.
The key doesn't work and it seems to be because the Device ID (my name) is not being picked up correctly as it is being displayed as strange characters in the screen where I enter the key for this program
I'll try a few more apps a bit later when I get some more time.
