camera free phone selection |

i am planning to buy a phone but am unable to make a choice.
my topmost requirement is that it should be a camera free phone.
from the available options in the market as of now i have narrowed down to 2 phones :
1) nokia e51
2) imate jaq
the reason i am unable to decide on my own is because i have never had an imate & have not got a series60 phone since my n70.
i am familiar with both operating systems.
points to consider when suggesting :
1) i use my phone for browsing extensively.
2) i'd like to have a considerable amount of internal memory.
4) i don't mind compromising on a few features but i'd like a phone with better hardware inside & better build quality outside.
5) fm radio is not necessary but i'd like a versatile media player.
6) i hardly text but i use a lot of gmail/aol on my phone so pop email is a must.
7) i practically survive on opera mini so java is indispensable.
this is all that comes to mind right now.
all feedback is appreciated, especially from owners of the above mentioned 2 phones.
ps : i am upgrading from a nokia 9300.

Personally, I'd recommend the Sony Ericsson M600i...
It's a great device with a very stable OS, with the latest FW its a great phone, CameraLess and plus its TriBand & UMTS...
Sony Alpha.

@bobafett,
no offence, but i would appreciate your feedback here itself rather than read a 58 page thread.
ty for the link, anyways.

Get a E51. Its a fantastic phone. If you can, just try and hold it in your hands and get the feel of it. Its got a relatively new button layout.

@qvga,
that is correct, nokia has even replaced the symbian swirl key with a home key & placed quite a few shortcut keys.
it's kind of like a blend of series80 & windows mobile in a series60 package.
do you have any hands on experience with an e51?

I'd highly recommend the Nokia E51, feels good in the hand, well made and the chunky keyboard is very tactile, speedy OS, been using one for a couple of months (camera version) and it would be my choice. |

@thomas93,
blackberry sounds good but i have no clue of their operating system.
if you have one or have used one please comment.
@bearcub24,
after 2 months of usage has the back cover become loose or squeaky?

No the battery cover is still tightly attached, only real fault I've found (and this won't apply to you) is that the camera is pretty mediocre for a 2Mp. |

i could tell u, that e51 is a geat fone, featurewise, but the screen is way too small imo and thats really uncomfy if u browse the net usually.
the e series link is useful, u have a lot of impressions what and how the symbian os ( especially the e series ) offers u.
btw a fone usage is individual, so i can tell u, that the symbian os is far better and useful, logical and far better supported then se uiq, but that doesnt mean, it will fit u on the same way like me ( matter of taste ), so thats why i linked the e series forum, cos what i like and what impress me, maybe for u is a nightmare

Well, as hard as it is - I'll have to take the Nokia...
I loved my M600i to bits, haha so did Vesper Lynd in '007 Casino Royale' lol - but seriously, if the JogDial is that much of a put off - then yes, the E51...
Sony Alpha.
