is there any flash file or some java application for K850i which can be used as a speedometer (to measure speed of the moving vechile) by using its built-in accelerometer data???

No i mean utilization of accelerometer as a speedometer.
i've a flash file that displays the amount of acceleration but i'm looking for some kind of application or flash that could display speed (like in a car-speedometer.)

He means a speedometer. The accelorometer can not be used to measure speed. For that you GPS.

I know that accelerometer is used for measuring acceleration and not the speed. But if u know the acceleration, u can get velocity & then the speed by taking time-derivative of the acceleration. But u'll have to calculate the time-interval manually. So i'm asking about something that could do it automatically i.e.taking accelerometer data & the time interval and then displaying the velocity or speed.

Yes, you are able to measure the speed with a accelerometer. But i havent gfound any java app doing that. |

Then how does the w580i with the Tracker (v1.6.20) app able to do this without GPS ?? Hmm. Unfortunately the Tracker app currently available for download from the SE Fun Site is the new one requiring GPS to work correctly. I know because I've tried it on my K850i.

sight!!! no one seems to be interested in

There is no possible way to work out speed from your acceleraometer, location services are providied using triangulation.
An acceleromter is a metal ball in sphere, that has a metal plate on each quatile, when the metal hits on of the quatiles it conducts electricty thus the phone knows it orientation. |

then how does it work on W580i?

To measure speed by accelerometer alone would be hugely inaccurate as you would need to take into account changes of direction and moving uphill etc. It just wouldn't be worth having.
The accelerometer measures rates of change of velocity and thats all.
GPS would be much more accurate, although it is possible to locate a phone by measuring the distance between three phone masts....but still not very accurate.

Well, The accelerometer measures the acceleration. And if you know the time and the amount of the acceleration during that time you can get the velocity.
m/s^2 * s = m/s
I cant see the hard part about it, but maybe the accelerometer isnt that accurate.

Yes i know that.. but if we do that all manually then no chance of getting even approximate value. The following file displays the acceleration produced in the handset
Acceleration Meter
so i think it is possible to make some kinda application that could measure the approximate speed. |

Does the phone use the pedometer and a user entered parameter of stride length to work out distance/speed when walking/jogging? |
