Hi All,
excuse my ignorance, but.....
O2 shop has a SE W910i for £150, in a lovely black colour. The Vodafone shop across the street has the same phone for £200, in a horrible turd colour. I'm currently on Vodafone PAYG, and want to keep my number.
Will my Vodafone SIM work if I buy the cheaper, nicer colour model from O2? The board in O2 says phone not available for Vodafone tarrif.
I don't understand all this branding nonsense. Reason I'm changing phone is I got a cheap Vodafone 716 a few weeks ago, and it's truly horrible - clunky menus, difficult to use. I've had SE in the past and would go back.
Thanks everyone.

the voda handset will be branded and locked to voda, meaning that you get vodas crap menus and you can only use the phone on their network.
if you get the o2 phone, then you will need to get it unlocked before it will work on voda

i think that flashing the phone with generic fw + SIM lock patch should do the job
i use ex-vodafone branded phone on an other network without any problem

Cheers guys.
I think the turdish colour is a Voda exclusive ... all their SE phones appear to be that colour now - they're calling it "a new range"! Still looks like cack to me.
Next dumb question - can I migrate my existing number to O2?

Is that easy to do?
Cheers

yes, but i think you need to give vodafone something like a months notice before you port (migrate) your number.

it all depends if you have a local independent shop that does unlocking, otherwise davinciteam.com can do it

yeah i'm sure you should have a phone shop near you that will unlock it? If not then i think davinciteam.com do it dont they? but you would have to do it yourself and IIRC it costs quite a bit
Try Carphone warehouse see how much it costs from them?
EDIT:
http://shop.carphonewarehouse[....]-go/sony-ericsson/w910i-black/
it will be unlocked and unbranded from CPW i think

Havana Gold, eh?!?
Hmmm .... the kind of gold that could be scooped out of a nappy, IMHO. |

You'd better not let Muhummad Oli see this thread or there'll be carnage everywhere...
Havanna Gold is cool IMO, I've been considering painting one of my 3 V800's in Havanna Gold.
