Find Out Firmware |

Hey guys and gals,
I just got my K850i, and when I did the SE Update Service, (hold down C while connecting USB) the phone seemed to come back with no changes. But the software says it was a recently updated phone.
How can I tell what firmware I have? Or if it worked?
I have it locked to Optus here in Australia for 24 months, which is fine, except the darn right touch key is the 'Zoo' or the internet shortcut, and I never use the internet on my phone, how can I disable that button?
A guy in the store reckons there was an update that fixed it?

To check your firmware version go to Menu > Settings > Updateservice > Software version you will see something similiar to this ;
Code:
|
Current Software version:
1200-4400
R1EA037 (<-- firmware version)
080314
Blabla..

This will tell your version..
Updating your phone will not remove the 'Zoo' option, since you have a branded phone. You need to debrand it with Wotanserver or Kulankendi (use google, its not free!). After debranding it, you can flash it with a generic firmware (with SEUS) and then you'll have the 'normal' software, with 'Contacts' instead of 'Zoo' on the right softkey.

Thanks for that man,
Mine says RR1EA031
I don't think that is right?
Using one of the flash programs means breaking the agreement with the carrier right?
Is there another way, like turning off 3G? Isn't the phone service over the GSM network?? If I select GSM Only will i not get an error everytime it tries to go online? Also because the phone has 3G and GSM on both by default, is that why I have a little button with a 'H' meaning Hybrid??
Thanks again,
Sean.

No its not the latest.
And btw, I had this problem too.
I went to a SE service centre and they could flash it for me, now I can flash any update at home. |

What was your problem?
Is it that the first flash won't work when it is branded?
What about the agreement being I have it on 24months contract?

Hi there...
my problem is that my firmware version is R1CA037. On seus it says that this is the latest firmware... But here on esato it says that the latest firmware is R1EA037? Is this my mistake or is something with my phone wrong?
Thanks for any help...

@seanoz;
My problem was that the flash came too early or too late, resulting very dark pictures.
I also have a agreement (24 months) and this isn't illegal or anything like that, if you think it is.
@muhsinos;
I think you have a branded k850, which most firmwares come out later. |
