i flashed used xs++ to get WG1 right around the time they took the latest firmware off it, JUST MY LUCK, I don't particularly want to lose my 100 apps&games and all my settings etc for speed, stability and a focus reticule but

if I go to WG2 is there a chance that any future updates will be on WG1 forcing me to flash a 3rd time?

or does upgarding lose everything just like flashing?

Well anything is possible, but in the past they've updated both CDAs at the same time when a new version is released - so it shouldn't matter which WG you have.

is it a lot of hassle getting your phone back to normal after flashing and/or upgrading?

That depends on how many apps you have to reinstall, but if you back up all your peronal data properly & and have any 3rd party apps handy then I don't find it too bad

Apps that don't come with the phone, e.g. Swiss Manager. [addsig]
