I can't compare the W580 to your other phone, but I really like it as a music player. It already comes with a decent set of earphones, and I find the sound quality to be quite good. It has a memory card slot-I bought a 4 gig card and that is plenty of room for me.

I like the way you can search for music by artist, album, etc. My only nitpicky thing is that so far I haven't found a way to just add and play all the music on the phone automatically. As far as I can tell, you have to make playlists or queue your music by album. You can make your own playlists, though, so that's probably a moot point. It supports a variety of filetypes.

The phone itself is small, so it's easy to leave it in your pocket while you listen to it and move around. I even jog with it in my hand and have had no problems. Overall, I think it's a great phone, and I'm not sure what you're looking for in a music player, but I have been very satisfied with it in that respect. Good luck in your search!

By the way, I have owned both the white and black phones. Yes, I went out and got another one when mine went through the washer. That's how much I love this phone. The white one is kinda shiny, but looked white to me. (Some people say it looks silver.) The black one looks slick. Both have orange accents. Really, it's a personal preference. Both have held up to wear and tear and so far no paint chipping or scratching problems. The white one that went through the wash still looked great, it was just dead.

Get a W910i if you can afford it and like it, if not then a grey W580i, why grey? Because it feels the most unique and the most beautiful between the rest of the colours specially the blue logo and numbers.

I'd recomend not getting the W580i; ma friend has had it since Christmas; thats 3 months and the keys have cracked. The sound IMO is very quiet and too many people have that phone. W910i seems better but it's nearly like double the price, so just choose something you like.

my friends w580i's keypad is changed. its now made of rubber. I think SE replaced it when he bring it to them. If the keys cracked just go to SE and they'll change it. I think for free [addsig]

^^

maybe you should instead get a G700. given the fact that it's CPU houses an arm9 processor completely embedded with a dedicated audio and video DSP, video and graphics acelerator. even though it's sound quality won't match powerhouse music phones like N81/91 still the audio quality is for sure better than W580 thanks to the audio dsp in the CPU.

One more thing, G700 feels much better than W580. build quality is very good

EDIT: the G700 music player is one of the best in SE phones. it pretty resembles W960's one.
