"Metering Mode" is a way for determining "exposure" by camera, and deciding the best combination of "aperture", "shutter speed" and "ISO" to achieve that exposure. normal metering mode is in fact "CenterWeightedAverage", camera will determine exposure based on a window in center of pic. "spot" metering mode is for capturing a very tiny region with a brightness different than its surroundings, usually light sources(or a dark region with too much light surrounds it).

in normal conditions, normal metering mode is good.

try other scenes and white balance in different environments.
