Not sure if there will be anything more to add on this W380i with photos, but since our guys had some unboxed pics prepare,d why not share with you all SE lovers at Esato.
Actually, when I play around with this low budget Walkman phone, it feels nice. The gesture control (turn off alarm and ring by just waving over the phone) worked very well and it is fun.
Here are some pics.
Strange form factor -> longer at the keypad side, make the phone feels like a barber shop hair trimmer.
Side photo. It is actually thin and not bulky.
Volume control on the side and nice glossy key designs
When you are using the Walkman feature, the RR, Play, and FF key grow with title of the song displayed on the outside. There is also a walkman control keylock at the back of the phone so that you do not need to open the phone to control the music functions.
Battery and time display. I think it is nicely done.
Low end Walkman model, so don't expect too much on the included earphones. Color matched though.
Finally, it is a triband phone, so if you are in the US, please make sure your operator supports the 1900 MHz. And the purple with pink buttons phone is so Girly.

It looks nice! I like the matte plastic used and the keypad is cool! Perhaps not in that colour, but maybe the blue one!

There's an awesome feature in this phone which is (from GSMarena.com):
" The secret behind the gesture control magic of the device is this. Once you get a call or your alarm sounds, the Sony Ericsson W380 activates the camera and uses it for motion detection - something even cheap webcams can do nowadays. Then you just wave your hand in front of the camera and the call or alarm gets silenced. According to Sony Ericsson you have to wave twice in front of the camera to accept your gesture, however as you can see from our video, even a single wave would do it. Unfortunately there are no advanced settings for this feature so you can't use it for other purposes or applications, nor does it understand other gestures besides waving.
In order for the feature to work, Sony Ericsson has equipped the camera with a really small LED (strangely enough it can't be used as LED flash for the camera). When there's an incoming call and the light is not enough for the camera to "see" you waving, the LED turns on in order to assist it. " |

very nice handset. I don't like clamshells, but still this is a very stylish handset. Whoever reckons SE handsets are boring needs their head read

This feature is really quite brilliant, hope they implement it in more models.

@PeterKay
But this feature have also increased the price of the phone slightly, so it might increase the prices of any future phones that have this feature. |
